2022 CMS iRacing iRTES Series Starts with two Porsche Cup Thrillers

Race Report by David Anderson Images by Various The 2022 Champion Motorsports iRacing Season has started in thrilling fashion. The first action of the year featured two highly attended Porsche Cup Spec Races. Each racing having over 30 drivers in the field provided for some great racing to start the year. Drew Lidkea would take the win at his home track in the North American Series as the Canadian born driver would win at Mosport Drew Lidkea Edges for Win at Mosport (above) In the International iRTES Support Cup Series, Miguel Colon would back up his fantastic Summer/Fall GT3 series with a win at Daytona Road Course. NARS Virtual F3 Championship – Final Round at COTA

Race Report by Matthew Overton Images by Dan Kirby Broadcast by Ross “Tnadz” Smith October 14, 2021 - Hard to believe, but it was the final round of the series in the third week of October, already! 17 drivers made their way to Austin Texas for some wonderful mid-fall sunshine and intense racing action at the Circuit of the Americas. Qualifying In an effort that was eventually neutralized by the stewards in the post-racing vehicle inspections, latecomer Ernest Bernaldo set the fastest time of 1:48.029, grabbing the attention of the fans and the other drivers alike, particularly Dan Kirby, who was just a hair slower with his own Q timing of 1:48.171. NARS Modern Sportscar Championship – Round 10 at Laguna Seca

Race Report by Matthew Overton Images by Jerry Chen Broadcast by Ross “Tnadz” Smith September 16, 2021 - 18 teams (8 LMH and 10 GTE) arrived at sandy Laguna Seca, ready to contest the next round of the VMSC. Conditions were warm and sunny for both practice and the race, a blessing that was appreciated by all on this tight and twisty track that is a real challenge for multi-class racing. Qualifying For the fourth race in a row, it was PRO Jason Whited in the Nissan GT-R that set the pace for the remainder of the LMH field, posting a 1:11.223 about midway through the session. NARS Virtual GT1 Championship Round 9 – 2.4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps

Race Report by Matthew Overton Images by Jerry Chen and Dan Kirby Broadcast by Ross “Tnadz” Smith September 9, 2021 - There was magic in the air and a real sense of anticipation as 16 drivers, representing 7 of the 8 teams in the series, gathered at the historic circuit of Spa-Francorchamps for the final and deciding race of the Virtual GT1 Championship. The weather was magnificent, promising the best possible conditions for racing over the day and night cycle that was to come. Qualifying With PROs Dan Kirby and Eduardo Beninca tied for the driver's championship, it was no surprise that they set the two fastest time in qualifying, with Kirby recording a 2:06.982 in his Ford GT, only a half-second ahead of Beninca in another Ford. NARS Modern Sportscar Championship – Round 8 at Road America

Race Report by Matthew Overton Images by Jerry Chen Broadcast by Ross “Tnadz” Smith September 2, 2021 - 21 teams (10 LMH and 11 GTE) jetted back across the Atlantic to land in the beautiful state of Wisconsin and the always entertaining Road American circuit at Elkhart Lake. With only four events left in the season, every opportunity to score points, or the inability to take advantage of missteps, started to loom over the heads of each of the competitors. Qualifying Nissan fans were pleased to see Jason Whited take his G-TR to the head of the LMH PRO field for a second time in a row, posting a 1:47.778 and Ferrari Tifosi was equally enthusiastic when Matthew Overton took his FXX-K to the top of the AM field with a 1:49.372. Formula Vee Series – Round 2 at Lime Rock Park

Race Report by Ryan Thompson August 24, 2021 – A staple of any iRacer's repertoire for good reason, Lime Rock Park is the first experience many people have with the platform. Lime Rock Park was built in 1956, right behind Road America and Willow Springs, in 1955 and 1953, respectively, making it the third-oldest racing venue in continuous operation in the United States. It's particularly well known as the home of the Skip Barber Racing School. In the smaller Formula Vees, much of the circuit is flat out, and the slipstream is particularly effective down the long straight, so expect some very close racing here. Qualifying Despite only having two laps to work with, qualification results were spread by just 0.667 seconds! NARS Virtual GT1 Championship Round 8 – 60 Minutes of Interlagos

Tightening championship races and several of the contenders returning to form have meant venues packed to their COVID-restricted capacities and record viewership around the world - with the fans at Interlagos streaming into the venue to make sure that they were able to grab their part of the excitement firsthand. With championship battles intensifying and only 3 races left, the absence of PRO Jon Uyan of V.I.C.E Racing, AM title contender Jimmy Regan of Gone Broke Racing made for serious openings in all three sets of standings, if the other teams and 22 drivers made the trip to Sicily were up to the challenge. VWSC 1971 – 3 Laps of Targa Florio

Targa Florio without Ferraris can’t happen and there were 5 in this race: 1 factory entry of Scuderia Cavalli with George Angelidis in Purist and 1 for Gasoline Aftershave Bros. with Marouane el Idrissi in Pro, the rest 3 of Peter Meier (Purist), Bruce Hopkins (Am) and Santiago Dancourt (Pro) all privateers. A strong presence was that of Alfa Romeo too with Jon Uyan (Pro) arranged to drive for Alfa Romeo CMS Pro team, having an initial sortie with Porsche in the first half of the Championship joining Gilles Lalonde in the sister Alfa. NARS Modern Sportscar Championship – Round 7 at Le Mans

The Circuit de la Sarthe has been the scene of epic endurance races and with near-ideal conditions for racing, there was a high level of expectation amongst both fans and racers for another thrilling day/night chapter to be added to the storied history of the track. NARS Virtual GT1 Championship Round 6 – 60 Minutes of Algarve

Portugal and the undulating Algarve circuit provided the ideal venue for a return to action with championship battles rejoined with enthusiasm. 22 drivers made the trip to Portimao for the weekend, with AM driver Danny Corriveau of Dark Thunder Racing a noticeable absence and a severe blow for both his championship chances and DTR’s hopes to get out of the team championship basement. Drivers and fans were very pleased to have almost ideal conditions for the race weekend with sunny skies and light breezes, meaning that drivers were able to extract the maximum from themselves and their cars as the track rubber matured. iRacing Sportscars Invade Interlagos

Race Report and Images by David Anderson August 04, 2021 – The Champion Motorsports Summer/Fall 2021 Sportscar Season has officially started and this week we "invaded" Interlagos in Sao Paulo Brazil for the first of nine rounds in the championship. We had a very large field (38 entries) at this iconic track which has played host to some of the most memorable moments in Formula 1 and other major motorsports history. Excitement was high as always leading into the first round of the new championship and the racing and action on the track did not disappoint. The event featured very clean racing that was competitive from top to bottom in both the GTE and GT3 classes with some great early season storylines developing. With almost none of the drivers have had any experience on this tight, weaving ‘rollercoaster’ of a track more often used for motorcycle racing, chances were good for some upsets in the standings. With 24 drivers on the shortest track of the season, there was no concern in the paddock that drivers would be ‘losing focus’! Hot and clear weather gave the 19 drivers and teams plenty of excellent conditions for the practice, and it stayed that way through the practice rounds and for the race itself. ACC GT4’s at Silverstone

Race Report by Josh Staffin June 21, 2021 - The Assetto Corsa Competizione GT4's were in action at Silverstone this past week. Qualifying With just a 14-minute qualifying session and a long track, only 6 flying laps were possible for those first out of the pits. But D. Bourne needed only 2 laps to unlock a 2:10.596. Though ultimately good enough for pole, it was still early in the session and so they went for a second stint on the quickly improving track - 2:10.326 being the final nail in the coffin. J. Steele also attempted 4 flying laps over 2 brief stints resulting in a 2:10.776. Just 0.204 seconds back was J.T. Tami on their third of four consecutive flying laps. A mere 1.3 seconds separated D. CMS Historics will host fun events this summer on Assetto Corsa revisiting historical content that deserves a spin and brings a smile. NARS Virtual GT1 Championship Round 4 – 60 Minutes of Zolder
