The CMS rF2 Week in Review: Maher with the Double Win in AM at LeMans Photo Credits: Daniel Kirby, Matthew Overton After a quiet week, all three CMS rF2 chapters were back in action.  While all the attention was focused on the WSC 91 races at LeMans, the Radical series at Barber proved that it could provide some exciting racing as well. First up was the MNRL at LeMans, with the poles in class claimed by George Angelidis (Overall and PURIST) in his Lucky Strike Mazda 787B, Brian Hall (PRO) in his Hall Brothers Jaguar XJR-14 and John Maher (AM) in another Lucky Strike Mazda. The 14 drivers launched enthusiastically into the 2.4h race with 10x time compression for a full day/night cycle.  With the special BoP for the race, some close competition on this unique circuit was guaranteed. A venue very familiar to CMS racers, anticipation was high for some keen competition in the two classes. AM driver Paul Ibbotson set the pace with a 2:05.068 in his GT3, almost a second clear of his closest competitor, newcomer Adrian Wong.  In the SR3s, with a 2:08.746, PRO Daniel Kirby just edged out Eduardo Beninca, renewing the rivalry that has become a fixture in the NARS races. While Road America with it’s long straights is ideal for the GT3s to stretch their legs over the SR3s, it proved to be more of a challenge than expected for the AM drivers. Story by David Anderson, Images by Mike Tyler, JT Tami April 30th, 2022 - Champion Motorsports is proud to celebrate and announce our 2022 Porsche Cup Series Champions.  In 2022 we launched this amazing spec series for the first time, to support our annual iRacing Team Endurance Series.  With 12 total races, we had both a North American Chapter and Championship as well as a iRacing Team Endurance Series Support Series.  We would have Champions for each of those as well as a combined Champion who scored the highest across all 12 races. It was the Trembling Mountain circuit for the historic Datsun 510s as the MNRL took on this re-creation of the iconic Quebec track for two sprint races. Jason Whited showed the greatest affinity for this twisting circuit, powering his car to the front in both races and chalking up two big wins as a result.  Whether starting from the front in R1 or driving through the field after a reverse grid start in R2, he was the master of the circuit for this race meeting.   The remaining podium places were hotly contested with multiple changes in each race, resulting in Gilles Lalonde and Joe Miller rounded out the podium in R1 while it was Eduardo > more

In the MNRL, PURIST driver Ben Boorman set the standard, powering his Peugeot 905 around the Suzuka circuit in 1:46.054 as the 4th event of the season got underway.  PRO Jason Whited was a full second behind at 1:47.242 in his Nissan R90CK while John Maher topped the AM qualifying in his Mazda 787B with a 1:51.522. 16 drivers took the green for the hour of racing and at the end of the 41 race laps, it was Boorman who took the checkered flag by only 3 seconds over the PRO class winner, Jon Uyan in his Jaguar XJR-14.  It was Maher’s Mazda that took the win in the AM class, one lap down to the leaders. One race this week - the Greyhound Rescue 150 at the Daytona NASCAR road course to close out the series.  The first stock car series in rF2 for CMS, the mix of road and oval courses made for entertaining racing.  Big shout out to Matt Sentell for the updated stock car plugin for rF2, which brought some real-world flagging to our oval races as well as some sage advice from the drivers and administrators over at StockCarSimRacing.com on setting up for stock car racing! It was no surprise when the overall series leader, Eduardo Beninca claimed pole position with a 1:49.056, almost a full second over his closest rival, Zander Tallman.  Brendan McVeigh was the polesitter for the AM class, 7th overall with a 1:51.914. The CMS race coming just one week after the iRacing 12 Hours of Sebring had a lot of the teams ready to go for a second test. Taking Top Honors in the Prototype 2 Class and with the overall win was Satellite Racing.  Their second win of the year and they are now closing in on the Championship as our favorites headed to Road America. Winner of R1 was Pedro Gomez with Jason Whited and Gilles Lalonde rounding out the podium. R2 saw Whited move up one place to take the win, with Matthew Overton patiently advancing from a P7 start to grab second place over an unlucky Lalonde late in the race. In the seniors category, Steve Carman and Overton traded P1 and P2 in the two races, with Bob Roberson picking up a consistent P3 for both races. Story and Images by Matthew Overton March 27th, 2022 - Just one race at CMS this week - the The Downspout’s Friend 150 for NARS as they took the SC2018X cars out for Round 7 of their 8 race series. Qualifying showed that the drivers had the setups and speed to run competitively with each other on the track and it was AM driver Ricardo Almeida that took the pole position with the only sub-48s lap at 47.813 Top PRO qualifier was Gilles Lalonde posting a 48.076. It was obvious that everyone was “bringin’ it” for the last oval race of the series Racing however, is never like qualifying! First up, at Indianapolis Road Course, Michael Parker would take down his first win of the season, with a very strong drive in his machine to win at the very famous American Legendary Circuit. This left the VWSC in the spotlight and it turned out to be an exciting race at Sebring that claimed the spotlight unchallenged! Over 80 Members contributed to the cause, and the appreciation is so welcome. As a reward for their contributions we held a multi class race on iRacing by invite only with a Sportscar GT and Touring Car option for members to select from. 75 Minutes of racing on the famed Daytona Road Course Circuit and the race lived up to every expectation and was extremely close and competitive. In qualifying, it was PURIST Ben Boorman that set the pace at 1:48.131 in his Peugeot 905 to claim pole for the race. Jason Whited paced the PRO class with a 1:48.736 in his Nissan R90CK while while Tom Aiken topped the AM field with a 1:51.723 in a Jaguar XJR-14. After an intense race with both day and night racing, Ben Boorman emerged as the overall and PURIST winner, over a minute ahead of his closest rival.
