September 18, 2019 – After a short break, the MX-5 Cup Series met at Donington Park for Race 7 of the season.
With a field of 15 cars making the trip, it was Paul Darling who would take the pole over series points leader JT Tami. As the green flag fell, Darling and Tami would push out front, with newcomer Mitchell Peake moving from 5th to 2nd by the end of Lap 2. The three of them would pull away from the rest of the pack, with several drivers encountering problems behind them, although Brian Szebelski would remain in sight of the front three for most of the race.
With a few laps to go, Peake would fall back and lose third to Szebelski on the penultimate lap, while Darling pulled away from Tami up front and take the win by 17 seconds. Tami continues his championship leading way with another podium finish in second, and Szabelski drove home in third for his first podium of the season.
There’s still three races to go, and next up is a trip to Austin, Texas and the Circuit of the Americas on October 2nd! So grab your cowboy hats, and plan to join us for what is sure to be a race for the ages!
