June 11th, 2023 – The latest round of the iRacing Team Endurance Series (iRTES) hosted by Penguin R/C simulation and Champion Motorsports, visited Lemans for an iconic race at the halfway point of the season. This circuit and track (especially this time of year) is looked forward to around the world by many fans, drivers, and teams, and our series was certainly no exception as everyone had this one marked on the calendar with Excitement.

A clean race throughout saw the Penguin r/c sponsored Pro team take the overall win in the LMDh category their first win of the season and 2nd podium in three races, putting them squarely in the Championship battle now moving into the halfway point of the season with three round remaining.

The Prototype LMP2 category continued to see dominance in the top spot as the Tempus Simsport team would win their third race in a row, in another brilliant display of racing craft and speed. They were nearly flawless and look to firmly have control of the Championship halfway at the mid point of the season.

However, in LMP2 the racing for the next two steps on the podium is hot and very contested as no less than five teams are battling and within only 10 points of each other. Some of the best racing for position is in the class and it’s going to be a great thing to watch as we move into the last three rounds.

In the GT3 Category the RD Simsport IV team also put on another terrific performance and another win as they are showing to definitely be the top team to contend with in the GT3 category. The racing continues to feature the largest class of drivers and their are some great storylines throughout the field. Notably at our next race at Twin Ring Motegi the three Porsche driven GT3 teams have elected they will move to the newly released iRacing build of the GT3 R. It will be interesting to see if that change mid season will have any bearing on their ability to move up the points.

Additionally as we move into the 2nd half of the season all LMDh teams have been given a one time option to elect to move from the BMW to the Cadillac car as it was released in time for our next event. This will add another story line for us to track to see if any teams will make the one-way switch and enter into the new car to roll the dice for our remaining three rounds.

The next race is upcoming on June 25th at Twin Ring Motegi. Our second trip to the Asia Pacific territory and for a track that CMS has not had the opportunity to race at much in the past.  This will be the first time that our iRTES series will race at the great circuit and if our Porsche Cup support race for iRTES was any indication with a thrilling finish at the Ring, this should be a great round to watch.
