Champion Motorsports Announces American Le Mans Ultimate Series for 2027

North American endurance heritage meets modern Le Mans Ultimate in a free-to-enter, three-class championship, with Daytona launching the inaugural season on January 10.

Champion Motorsports (CMS) is proud to unveil the inaugural American Le Mans Ultimate Series (ALMUS), a new Sunday endurance championship that takes its inspiration from the historic American Le Mans Series and modern IMSA racing. Its first season will showcase classic North American venues through the Le Mans Ultimate simulation.

With decades of experience delivering organized sim racing in iRacing, rFactor 2 and other platforms, CMS is bringing another flagship-level offering to its community, alongside the iRTES and VWSC sports-car championships. ALMUS is designed for CMS drivers in good standing, from developing competitors to established endurance-racing veterans.

Six rounds, one shared North American racing tradition

The provisional 2027 calendar begins with the 2.4 Hours of Daytona on Sunday, January 10. The remaining announced races are Sebring (March 14; 72 minutes), Long Beach (April 4; 100 minutes), Laguna Seca (May 16; 160 minutes) and Road Atlanta (October 17; 90 minutes). A sixth one-hour round will be announced when suitable official LMU track content is confirmed. Dates remain subject to final scheduling review.

2027 six-round North American Le Mans Ultimate racing calendar; fifth circuit to be announced

Every round is planned for a Sunday 17:00 UTC green flag, preceded by 60 minutes of practice, a shared 15-minute private qualifying session for all classes, and a five-minute warmup. CMS will also provide additional hosted practice opportunities leading up to race weekends.

Three classes, 30 cars and championship points for every round

The inaugural grid will feature 10 Hypercars, eight ORECA 07 LMP2 prototypes and 12 LMGT3 cars. Nine modern Hypercar models and all ten available LMGT3 models are eligible under the published series rules. Drivers compete individually—no driver swaps, multi-car teams or Pro/Am subdivisions—with separate class championships and a shared 25–18–15–12–10–8–6–4–2–1 points table, plus 0.5 point from 11th place onward. All six races count; no results are dropped.

The racing will emphasize authentic weather, full damage, 100% fuel usage and tire wear, developer-supplied BoP and good multiclass racecraft. Pit stops are not mandatory unless required by a driver’s fuel, tires or race situation. Event-specific fuel-capacity and tire-set limits may create different strategic challenges at each circuit.

Free entry, reserve opportunities and championship trophies

There is no entry fee. Drivers should apply using both the dedicated ALMUS championship page on The SimGrid and the CMS registration form, preferably at approximately the same time. CMS will then issue individual confirmation of acceptance onto the 30-car grid or placement on a reserve list of up to 16 drivers across the classes. Before every race, a separate attendance form will allow drivers to confirm participation at least 48 hours in advance so eligible reserves can fill openings.

CMS will award the Hypercar, LMP2 and LMGT3 champions a digital trophy and a physical trophy each, with free shipping for physical trophies within the United States. CMS also plans to release class-specific number boards and windshield banners before the season, and will explore race broadcasting with its partners.

The next chapter for Champion Motorsports

David Anderson will serve as series lead administrator and designer, supported by additional officials to be named later. The series will operate under CMS General Competition Rules and the established incident-review process, with Version 2.0 sporting regulations covering race procedures, eligibility, scoring and server interruptions.

Season 1 celebrates North American endurance racing. If the format succeeds, CMS may build on that foundation with future tours inspired by racing in Asia, the FIA World Endurance Championship and other parts of the world.

Registration open — two forms required

Drivers must complete both forms, preferably together. CMS reviews all applications before confirming a grid or reserve place.

30 grid spots: 10 Hypercar, 8 LMP2, 12 LMGT3. Reserve list: up to 16 across all classes.
