Champion Motorsports wecSim Featuring Le Mans Ultimate (LMU)
Introduction
Champion Motorsports is pleased to announce our first foray into the Le Mans Ultimate Simulation Platform. We are excited to bring our expertise in simracing in an immersive world of simracing we are branding “wecSim”. We will strive to simulate certain aspects of the WEC brand of Sportscar Racing on an International scale with precision immersion and realism within many aspects. The series will be available to all skill levels, from novice to pro with racing for everyone. Races will be conducted on Sundays, with starting times which work for both North American and International Time Zones.
Racing will feature three divisions within our series as follows:
- LMP Trophy – Prototype 3 Cars (single class)
- Sprint Cup – Prototype 2 and GT3 cars (multi-class)
- wecSim – Hyper Cars and GT3 cars (multi-class)
Teams and Drivers may elect to run in any and/or all of the division formats listed above.
To participate in the series, drivers and team members are expected to own all of the relevant content from the Le Mans ultimate core game and applicable DLC available for purchase from Steam.
All Drivers must have a Driver SR (Safety) ranking within Lemans Ultimate of Silver or Higher, unless an exception is made. Considerations for exceptions may include the CMS rF2 Stratification System, Known information about the member/driver from CMS staff, and or comparable data such as iRacing or other Game Rankings such as iRating, SR, etc.
Each of the three series will consist of both teams and privateer entries. Drivers may sign up at their discretion as an individual (privateer) or as a part of a team. Teams will consist of a minimum of 2 and max of 3 drivers within each of the divisions. Each team will have a team/owner principal who CMS will use as the primary point of contact for team related matters. This person is also responsible for accountability of the team and its drivers adhering to CMS regulations and policy as well as paying applicable entry fees, distributing prizes, and any other matters that the CMS admin team may need to address with a team as a whole. For Privateer entries the individual will be the point of contact for CMS staff. Note if part of a team the Team Owner at their discretion may also be a driver. Teams and Privateers may have as many additional resources, engineers, spotters, etc. as they desire to assist them within their race operations.
Team and Driver Championships
The series will track results for the Championship at both a driver level as individual race results, as well as an optional team championship for teams which are entered. For teams only the top 2 results from any given event will be taken. For example if a team consists of 3 drivers and all 3 are present for the race the lowest scoring driver of the 3 will be dropped from the team results. However said driver will be included in driver standings. More details will be provided as appropriate on the team dynamic via our CMS discord.
Note all drivers on a team must drive the same make and model car within their class.
Balance of Performance (BoP)
All balance of performance tuning will be default as we receive from Studio 397 / Motorsport Games. CMS will not be making additional refinements.
LMP Trophy Details
The LMP Trophy division will be focused around a single class, of Prototype 3 Cars (LMP3), with races which are shorter in distance (30-45 Minutes). Entry into this series will be restricted to lower ranked drivers as follows:
-LMP3 Trophy is Restricted to Rookie, Bronze, and Silver Drivers Only (Driver Rank), note CMS may make exceptions to these guidelines based on other evaluation criteria and consideration for a driver and/or team(s).
-Grid Size for LMP Trophy will be limited to 25 cars
Sprint Cup Details
The Sprint Cup division will be focused on multi-class racing with LMP2 and GT3 Cars. These races will be up to 75 minutes in length. Entry into this series will be restricted as follows:
-LMP2 Entries: Silver or higher Safety Ranking Required (Safety Rank), note CMS may make exceptions to these guidelines based on other evaluation criteria and consideration for a driver and/or team(s).
-GT3 Entries: Silver or higher Safety Ranking Required (note teams must have at least one Bronze or Silver Driver) (Driver Rank), note CMS may make exceptions to these guidelines based on other evaluation criteria and consideration for a driver and/or team(s).
-For Sprint Cup the grid mix will be a maximum of 30 cars (15 LMP2 and 15 GT3)
wecSim Details
wecSim will be our highest level of competition, striving to replicate many aspects of the FIA WEC endurance Championship. At this time there will not be driver swaps in the first season. This is to allow the driver swap functionality to be further refined by the game developers (Motorsport Games), and once made available to leagues CMS will incorporate into future seasons accordingly. For season one, teams will run the same as the other divisions. Hyper cars and GT3 cars will be the featured classes in wecSim for multi-class racing. Entry into this series will be restricted as follows:
-Hypercar Entries: Gold or higher Safety Ranking Required (Safety Rank), note CMS may make exceptions to these guidelines based on other evaluation criteria and consideration for a driver and/or team(s).
-GT3 Entries: Silver or higher Safety Ranking Required (note teams must have at least one Bronze or Silver Driver) (Driver Rank), note CMS may make exceptions to these guidelines based on other evaluation criteria and consideration for a driver and/or team(s).
-For wecSim the grid mix will be a maximum of 35 cars (15 Hyper and 20 GT3)
Entry Fees and Cost Recovery
There will be an entry fee to participate in the series to help CMS with expenses for the series, which may include server rental fees, and software, administration expenses, discretional trophies and prizes, and other related expenses to run a series of this nature. If CMS is able with the fees collected we will consider broadcasting some or all of the races on our youtube channel. Transparency on ledger balance, expenses and discretionary funds for awards and broadcast will be shared with all members. Prizes will be limited to trophies, medals, or applicable type awards only. CMS will pay for shipping within the USA to the driver and/or team manager applicable. Shipping outside of the USA may be arranged at the recipients cost.
The fee structure for the season will be as follows:
- LMP Trophy – “free”
- Sprint Cup – $25 USD for season (per driver)
- wecSim – $35 USD for season (per driver)
Note team owners who are not driving are not required to pay any fee.
Additionally , any support staff such as engineers or spotters are not required to pay any fee.
Prelude Races
As the Le Mans Ultimate (LMU Sim) is still relatively new to CMS we will plan to have 3 prelude races, one each in LMP Trophy, Sprint Cup and wecSim that will occur before the points paying Championship begins. Access to these races will be included in the entry fees. These events will allow us to all get used to the ins and outs of the sim and work out any kinks and tweaks that may need to be refined before the scheduled Championship Starts.
Track selections for the Prelude races are TBA and will be shared on discord in race briefings
Once the prelude races are completed, the below Championship Schedule will begin.

Race Communications
We will use the CMS Discord LMU voice channels for race communications.
CMS Discord is available at https://discord.gg/cmsracing
The voice channel is only required to monitor race control during the event. You do not need a microphone if you do not want to speak.
If you have a microphone, please set it to “push to talk”. If that just doesn’t work for you, PLEASE set the voice-activated audio level up considerably so your coughing, wheezing or sim controls grinding isn’t “shared” with everyone else. Don’t be “that guy/girl”.
Chatter during free practice is permitted and encouraged! For qualification and races, please be brief in your communication on Discord and talk only if absolutely necessary. One sentence then quiet is requested. No text chat AT ALL during qualification or race.
Abusive and/or profane in-game chat, Discord, or forum post language may lead to that driver receiving a sanction up to and including a ban from CMS.
Should a driver join the event server without being in the Discord channel, they will be sent 3 text prompts in the LMU text chat to join the CMS Discord server. After the 3rd prompt, they will be removed from the race server by race control until they rejoin with Discord active and monitoring the race channel.
This series will conform to the CMS General Competition Rules that may be found here on the website and on the CMS Discord Server. All drivers are expected to know the GCR and shall be required to abide by them. Additional track-specific instructions will be provided via a drivers race brief that will be posted on discord and summarized prior to the start of the race weekend.
Pit Entry/Exit Lines: On circuits that a white or yellow line is drawn at the pit road entry or/and exit, crossing this line to entry or/end exit the pit is prohibited unless specifically permitted in a pre-race brief. Otherwise, it is permissible for tires to step on the line, but crossing the line with one tire completely will result in a post-race Incident Review Request and penalty from the race admins and stewards.
There are no live stewards. A post-race Incident Review Request may be submitted for adjudication with any resultant penalties to be served in the next race competed by the driver(s) at fault. The IRR form may be found at https://cmsracing.com/incident-report/.
LMU system assigned penalties during races must be served. The Race Director will only have the capability to clear penalties and driver DQ during practice on the race server and then AFTER qualification but before the race.
Connection Notes
Drivers are strongly advised to reboot their computer just before joining the server on race night.
Don’t use a WiFi connection. Only Ethernet cable connections are permitted for events.
