Story by Matthew Overton, Images by Jerry Chen April 4th, 2022 - Tuesday night saw the MNRL at Road Atlanta for a pair of sprint races in the Datsun 510s. Winner of R1 was Pedro Gomez with Jason Whited and Gilles Lalonde rounding out the podium. R2 saw Whited move up one place to take the win, with Matthew Overton patiently advancing from a P7 start to grab second place over an unlucky Lalonde late in the race. In the seniors category, Steve Carman and Overton traded P1 and P2 in the two races, with Bob Roberson picking up a consistent P3 for both races. Overall, it’s Jason Whited and Eduardo Beninca tied at 204 for the top of the standings, with Gilles Lalonde holding down third at 187 as Joe Miller and Steve Carman look to stay within striking distance of him. The CMS rF2 Week in Review: Almeida and Lalonde at the front for Daytona

Story and Images by Matthew Overton March 27th, 2022 - Just one race at CMS this week - the The Downspout’s Friend 150 for NARS as they took the SC2018X cars out for Round 7 of their 8 race series. Qualifying showed that the drivers had the setups and speed to run competitively with each other on the track and it was AM driver Ricardo Almeida that took the pole position with the only sub-48s lap at 47.813 Top PRO qualifier was Gilles Lalonde posting a 48.076. It was obvious that everyone was “bringin’ it” for the last oval race of the series Racing however, is never like qualifying! For all the drivers who have dismissed oval racing as ‘turn left, turn left, turn left’, Daytona was a rude reminder that highspeed drafting on a superspeedway requires a tad more concentration than that! The CMS rF2 Week in Review: Road America and Watkins Glen

Story by Matthew Overton Images by Matthew Overton and Bob Roberson March 22nd, 2022 - Two races this week as the MNRL took on Road America in the Datsun 510s while NARS wound their way around the Watkins Glen Short circuit in the Stock Car 2018Xs Two sprint races at Road America made for some close racing as the elbows were out up and down the field. R1 saw the top five finish in their starting order, although it was only race winner Eduardo Beninca that kept his starting position from green to checkered flag. R2, with a starting order that reversed the top six from R1, was a different story. With the top three starters in that race having problems that saw them tumble down the order within the first three laps, the podium was up for grabs with Jason Whited fending off his rivals to get to > more

The CMS rF2 Week in Review: Sebring!

Story By: Matthew Overton Photo By: Jerry Chen It was a quieter week of rF2 racing at CMS with only a single race due to a postponement of the NARS fixture due to RL issues and a week off at MNRL. This left the VWSC in the spotlight and it turned out to be an exciting race at Sebring that claimed the spotlight unchallenged! A demanding track at the best of times, it was made all the moreso with 38 drivers ( 17 Hypercar and 21 GT) taking the green at this storied venue. With the addition of rain - the first time in over a year for the VWSC, it meant a race of of attrition, mistakes and bold moves that made a crowd pleasing event to watch. Since the week had been almost completely rain-free, the garages were abuzz with action as teams adjusted setups to account > more

The unofficial practice session showed the dedication of the drivers to tame the beast with over 2000 practice laps before the race even started. The pole went to Connor Levy closely followed by Aaron Roberts, they were the only ones breaking into 1:20 territory after a tensed and suspenseful session with fastest time holder changing many times. Rally Report Season 6 – Round 1 Monaco

Rally Report by Steve Carman Images by Steve Carman January 18th, 2022 - Monaco was the first event on the calendar for the 2022 CMS Rally Championship and 26 entrants took to the starting line in a wide variety of machines.  The venerable BMW E30 M3 was the most popular weapon, but a surprising number of drivers opted for the old tech Datsun 240Z and Lancia Stratos.  Michael Mortensen opted for the short wheelbase high power R5 Turbo and Manuel Sentino opted for the turbo kick of the Sierra Cosworth.  The daytime stages were relatively good weather with occasional snow flurries.  When the sun went down the going got more treacherous with snow and frozen roads at higher altitudes to challenge the entrants. Straight out of the start control on the first stage Marvin Warthöfe in his 240Z showed the red-hot pace he became known for last year.  Putting > more
