Acceleration Zone
In iRTES, everyone must ignore the green lights in the game.
You go only when your class polesitter accelerates within the AZ.
The Portimao Acceleration Zone STARTS at the Blue Stand pictured on the right (below) and ends at the Red Bridge (below). This is a longer than normal acceleration zone, and will allow the discretion of the pole sitters to determine when to go within the zone. So pay attention and do not accelerate prior to the start of the zone.
Orange Zone (OZ)
Try to avoid causing contact or other problems within the OZ on lap 1.
Penalties will be more severe than normal.
The lap 1 OZ at Portimao runs through to the exit of Turn 4.
Event-specific notes
Race Control may give formation instructions to whole classes during the approach to the Green Flag. Pay attention.
New iRacing build: GTPs are ridiculously fast so expect to be surprised by them at any moment.
LMP2s have also changed, so take time to learn their new behaviour too.
This track will see prototypes trying lots of switchbacks and generally weaving through traffic. GT3s should be aware and pick a side early.
Pit entry can be dangerous if prototypes are around – try to hold a tight line in the final corner and be obvious.
While in pit lane you should use the Fast Lane for as long as possible.
