Welcome to 2024 Season 1, bringing us back to open wheelers with the Renault Formula 3.5!

Signups are required again, even if you have signed up previously.

We race every Wednesday night, session opens @8:30pm Eastern. Practice sessions every Tuesday night @8:30pm Eastern

How to Participate

All drivers must click the button above and complete the registration form, even if you have registered for a previous season.

When signing up, please choose the Pro/Am classification that best suits you. If you are not sure, there is an option for us to get in touch with you to help you pick the most appropriate classification for your skill level.

Please request membership to the Champion Motorsports league in iRacing, if you are not already a member. Membership on the CMS Discord is also a requirement, as that is where we will send out race briefings and other important news.

There is no cost to race in this series, beyond of course your iRacing membership and any content you do not yet own. If you wish to support CMS, you can click the Donate button on the right sidebar! Running a league of this size has costs, so every little bit is greatly appreciated and helps us provide bigger and better things.

Race Details

Some details may be changed on a per-race basis. Please read the posted race briefing for the race carefully! Briefings are posted on Discord before each race.

  • Dynamic sky and weather, as well as a random track starting state
  • Race session date and time will be included in the briefing (and see the table, above)
  • We will use standing starts this season. We suggest practicing your launches!
  • To spice things up a little, one or two races will feature open qualification rounds. Most will have private qualy, as usual. Check the briefing!
  • Races this season are based on number of laps, not time, but will be approximately 60 or 75 minutes.
  • Drive-through penalties will be assessed automatically:
    • Every 17x for ~60-min races
    • Every 21x for ~75-min races
  • One fast repair available for each race.
  • Drivers meeting will be held just before qualifying, using iRacing voice chat. All drivers must have voice chat enabled/unmuted during this period.
  • Voice chat during the race must be kept to a minimum (emergency safety callouts only).
  • Come to the drivers’ lounge (🎧iRacing channel on Discord) after the race to hang out with some of your fellow racers. (Optional, but we don’t bite!)

Series Specifics

  • We will be running open setups. Please check out the #setup-sharing channel on Discord, or talk to your fellow drivers in #discussion-weds if you are new to setups or would simply prefer to have a good setup from someone else.

Points

Please consult the points table for details. You must complete 50% of your class race winner’s laps to earn points.

Points will be awarded separately for Pro and Am. Drivers participating in the 50+ championship will receive points towards that as well. In other words, you can earn points towards Pro or Am and 50+.

Rules and Regulations

We follow all league rules as specified in the General Competition Rules at CMS, as well as the iRacing Sporting Code. All members are expected to understand and follow these rules at all times.

Everyone must be aware of the Orange Zone (OZ) for each race, as published in the drivers’ briefing. Serious incidents that occur in the OZ will be reviewed, and the stewards will impose higher penalties for any driver found to be at fault for an incident in the OZ.

Should you be involved in an incident on track, we encourage you to talk to the other driver first. If you wish to escalate it to be reviewed by the stewards, even if it is an OZ incident, you can fill out an Incident Review Request (IRR). All IRRs must be submitted between 12 and 60 hours after the race. You must join the Race Review Committee (RRC) Discord to submit an IRR.

Series Administrators

Your iRacing Wednesday night administrators are:

  • Michael Parker – Team lead
  • Ryan Thompson – Support, Steward liaison.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us via DM if you have any questions or concerns.

Note that—by design—we have no say over penalties or other stewards’ decisions. If you have a question about a steward (IRR) ruling, please visit the CMS RRC Discord and click the #irr-follow-up channel, or DM the Chief Steward (Jon Uyan). Please do not discuss incidents in public channels.

This series has been created for one purpose only: fierce, friendly competition on the track with like-minded racers, providing a place for everyone to race and have a great time doing so. We are all friends, here.

While we have rules in place, we also don’t intend to add complication or pressure to perform on race night. We all started sim-racing from scratch, and regardless of your experience we want everyone to feel welcome here. So please, come in and make some friends and we’ll see you on the track!
