Thread: Special Event - CMS Daytona 2.4 Endurance Race

  1. Default Special Event - CMS Daytona 2.4 Endurance Race

    Introduction

This is the second collaborative effort between CMS and SHQM to see if the audience is interested in running a short "Euro-friendly" multiclass race series on Sundays.

    Date: Sunday, January 13th
Server Reboot @ 5:30 PM GMT / 12:30 PM EST
Start Time: 6 PM GMT / 1 PM EST, 12 PM CST, 11 AM MST, 10 AM PST

    Qualifying - 15 Minutes
Warm Up / Drivers Meeting / Set Grid - 15 Minutes
    Race 2h 24m (144 minutes)

    Solo Drive or Teams

Driver swaps are welcome but not mandatory!
But... There will be one class for LMP2 and one class for GTE.

    Registration

There is no registration for this event. Just show up and start driving!
If you would like to list your planned ride and if you're doing solo or team, add it to this thread.

    rFactor 2 Build

We will use the latest retail build of rF2

    Cars

We will be using the LMP2 Oreca and the 3 GTE cars from the Studio 397 Endurance Package.

You can purchase the S397 Endurance Package here:
    https://www.studio-397.com/2018/06/endurance-pack/

    Track

    Download: http://cmsracing2.com/files/NARS/Tra..._v1.31sm.rfcmp

There are items listed below drivers need to be aware of regarding this track. Please read the info carefully.

    1) First, as far as we have been able to determine, the track is not ripped from another sim title. If you know differently, please let us know because neither CMS or SHQM agree with using known ripped content.

    2) This is a beautifully converted to DX11 track, especially at night BUT ONLY IF you turn off the effects. If you leave the effects on, it looks like an old camera flashbulb effect.

    3) There are some blinking and chasing textures, but not enough to avoid the track for this event. The track situation is the biggest threat to rF2 IMO (short editorial comment).

    4) You will have to manually install the track. Workshop isn't available for this track. Place the track in your rF2 Packages folder, then go to the screen below and right click on the track to Install. If you need help, send up a flare in this thread.

    Race Comms

    1) Teamspeak is required for the drivers meeting during warmup. Then you're welcome to leave the channel if you want.

    2) The drivers meeting will be verbal over Teamspeak.

    3) CMS Teamspeak comms is required, but only to monitor the drivers meeting and monitor race control during the event. You do not need a microphone if you do not want to speak.

    4) A request to drivers to please be brief in you communication on Teamspeak. One sentence then quiet is requested.

    5) Abusive and/or profane in-game chat, Teamspeak or forum post language or deliberate crash into competitor's car may lead to that driver receiving probation, suspension or ban from the league.

    Teamspeak connection details are here:
    https://cmsracing.com/champion/forum...ad.php?t=16461

    Race Start

    1) Start is set for standing grid.

    2) Once the lights go green, SLOWLY roll off the grid and get in single file.

    3) All cars will remain in single file, no passing until AFTER the the start of the race.

    4) Once you have exited the bus stop chicane, are across from the Sunoco sign on the outside of the track , your race has started.

    5) Should race control observer anyone making contact with another car before the chicane exit, the offending driver will receive a drive through penalty.

    Race Restart Conditions

There are two conditions that will prompt ONE race restart:

    1) The server has a technical problem and crashes.

    2) A driver disconnects when the server advances from Warm Up to the Race.

In either situation, the server will be restarted and the process of loading the grid will begin again.

    Orange Zone

    1) The entire first lap is the Orange Zone.

    2) After you cross Start/Finish to begin your second lap, you are out of the Orange Zone.

    Passing On the Oval

    1) Unique to Daytona and other rovals is passing.

    2) GTE should stay low except to pass another GTE.

    3) LMP2 should stay high to go around the GTEs.

    4) If you are in a GTE, be very careful coming back on the oval after running the infield. A P2 may be at your 4 o'clock blinding position and you can go right up into them. Careful swinging wide!

    5) Also, be sure you stay to the outside on that long pit lane. Do not come down the pit lane in the left lane closest to the crew.

Watch this 15 minute Corvette Racing video and note the high bank passing and pit lane activity.

    Settings

    Driving View is open
    Auto Clutch
    Traction Control

    Custom Skins

    1) Custom skin uploading is welcome and encouraged, but please log onto the server a couple days before the race so your dds file will get uploaded properly.

    2) If everyone waits until race day, it may clog the server and necessitate that we disable custom skin uploading.

    3) Please use only single car .dds files, not multi-packed .mas files.

    Penalties

Penalties can be applied one of 3 ways:

    1) rFactor 2 system delegated penalties (all must be served, and are not in admin control).

    2) Upheld Incident Reports via Race Review Team.

    3) During the race for a Start infraction via Race Review Team.

CMS League Rules and Regulations will be in effect for this event.

    Track Limits & Reference Points

    Additional Driver Notes

    1) Don't Press Esc! UNDQ is available on the server. If a driver gets a DQ. DO NOT TOUCH ANY KEYS ESPECIALLY THE ESC KEY! An admin will see you are DQ and will UNDQ you. IMPORTANT! If it is still early light turn your headlights on before moving out of the garage or rF2 will DQ you again!

    2) Open setups, but we encourage everyone to share!

    3) It is STRONGLY advised drivers reboot their computer just prior to joining the server on race day. The track is a whopper, and can drag down the computer memory and resources so some extra precautions are necessary.

    4) Please check your computer graphic settings for the in-game night time of 6:30 PM. If you cannot get your computer running at that time on the track, and have adjusted your graphics, please post in this thread.

I'd love to give it a go, but 2.5 hours is just way to long for me.

    I'm game.

Will there be an option for driver swap for those that cannot/don't want to go for the full 2.4 hours on their own?

    I'm in!!
And I like Jason's thinking, which actually might help Scott...........
For those that don't want to or can't run the whole event handing off the car to a team mate makes sense.
It does shrink the field a bit but may get some that would stay away otherwise.

Never let up for a second....or that may be where you finish!

Sunday sounds good and we may attract some Euro zone drivers also.

Plenty of time to spread this and get it out there, maybe even attract a few new drivers and such.

If someone will create one of those handy banners with all the details that link to the site, I'm sure some of us here would spread it around some.
Given the date/time, [hopefully] attendance won't be an issue. (*crosses fingers, because sometimes I'm not so sure)
