Over the course of the next year, we are moving to Discord. Both will be available until April 2019, at which time Teamspeak will not be renewed.

I had already created an account on Discord, but when I get on the CMS pages it says I don't have permission to send messages in this channel. Do I need to be approved or activated?

I just gave you the member privilege, so you should be good now.

I understand the move toward Discord but it's quite an invasive app!

Their Squirrel installer does not offer any control over the installation and it sets itself under c:\users\UserName\appdata\local\discord\. Not an program installation folder. AppData is for application settings, files, and data. Not executables.

For those of you who wish for more control: https://portapps.github.io/app/discord-portable/
A portable version of Discord (third party made) available as a 7zip archive that can be decompressed into any folder of your choice. Just make your own appropriate shortcuts.

It does auto update itself from the Discord servers

I own crappy boxes... well you know what? 20gigs on a Asus P7P55 LX with an i7-860 running a used GTX970 4GD5T OC on an new AOC Q2963 21:9 screen... I'm doing way better! I even got myself a barely used G29! But I still endlessly mod rFactor...
