    Default 5/23/18 Sportscar Trophy - Rd2 - Driver's Briefing

Round 2 of the Sportscar Trophy sees the CMS traveling circus head to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin for the venerable and high-speed Road America. No other American track perhaps combines fast straights, high g corners, and tests of load speed car control just like Road America does. The Moraine Sweep. Hurry Downs. The Carousel. The Kink. Kettle Bottoms. Canada Corner. Perhaps no other US track also has so many recognizable named sections. It's time to fire up the engines for Round 2 of Sportscar Trophy!

    Briefing Notes
    • The Orange Zone will run from the start/finish line to the exit of T3
    • The Acceleration Zone will run from the pit entrance to start/finish line
    • Be mindful of cars exiting pits
    • GTE traffic be mindful of prototypes at The Kink; if a prototype is flashing lights and/or setting up inside, they will pass you here. Prototypes: please don't pull out and indicate a pass is on if you have don't have intention of actually initiating the pass. GT drivers don't appreciate the indecision and it's harder for them to anticipate what you're going to do and drive in a predictable manner.
    • One fast repair
    • LMP1 & GTE fuel limited to 60%
    • GT3 fuel limited to 55%
    • Have fun!

    Dynamic Weather
    Race 1: Morning
    Race 2: Late Afternoon

The "ORANGE ZONE POLICY EXPLAINED" This zone constitutes the outlined Orange Zone area on the track during the 1st Lap. This zone should be regarded as a PASS WITH EXTREME CAUTION area during the first lap of any race. Should an incident occur because a driver chooses to attempt a pass within this “Orange Zone” the driver initiating the pass will likely be held responsible.

Outside of the Orange Zone, clean and responsible driving is the order of the day. If you begin to spin, hold the brake down so your car's actions will be more predictable to drivers attempting to negotiate the track safely. Please take the utmost care and use your Relative Black Box (F3) to safely rejoin the track if you have an off.

This will be an interesting race. Between turns 7 and 8 will be tricky, and the back straight that isn’t straight will be hazardous. Hopefully we can have another great turnout for this one.
We didn’t get nearly as much group practice in, but let’s keep it clean again.

Are we doing a two stage qualifying session? One for LMPs and one for GTE and GT3?
