2024 MNRL Club Series
Back 2 the Future

Coming off the exciting Super Touring World Cup, MNRL takes a bit of a sidequest and enjoys a miniseries for some exciting DeLorean action.

That’s right, we’re taking on the DMC-12’s from the 80’s classics of Back to the Future and its sequel in a very unique championship.  Only 3 rounds long, drivers get to enjoy the juiced up version that Doc Brown put together to head back to the past and the super hover version that went into the future.  Each track will have 4 races where drivers swap between these two versions of the car.

Races will be broadcasted on the Champion Motorsports YouTube.

Cars

MNRL will use the very special DMC-12 mod by Brentwheels which has been used exclusively at Happy Hour Racing League (HHRL).  HHRL is a fantastic group that’s been running oval racing on asphalt and dirt in rFactor 2 for almost as long as the sim has been out.  Brentwheels has produced some stunning content for his wonderful league, including the B2tF mod which HHRL is graciously lending to MNRL for this one-time series.  This pack will include 3 driver classes: Pro, ProAm and Am. MNRL carpack will be available in the Champion Motorsports (CMS) Discord.

The MNRL version of the mod features 2 DeLoreans from the films including the original car (modified by Doc Brown of course) and the hover car.  If you’d like to enjoy the full mod with the other 3 car versions, be sure to visit HHRL’s Discord.  With 4 races, drivers will alternate between the versions they pick based on what team they’re on.  More on that in a minute.  In addition to the DeLorean mod, drivers will also need the CMS Safety Car.

Championships & Driver Classes

The rf2la app (password: cmsrocks) will record all sessions and standings. There will be 3 driver’s champions for each driver class
Drivers will automatically be entered in the championship appropriate to their choice of class when they pick their car.

Drivers who have raced in CMS before will have been noted in the stratification for 2024 with the option of moving up a driver class if they wish. Drivers with no prior racing experience in CMS will be placed in ProAm category until properly evaluated.  Admins retain the right to reassign a driver up or down a car category if they are not correctly placed based on special circumstances or drivers’ performance.

See series admin for further details.

Teams

For each event (track) there will be 2 teams that are picked by the administrator based mostly on performance.  Teams will be balanced in number as much as possible.  Once determined, one team will take the ground car and the other team the flying car.  Drivers will race with these cars then switch cars for the next race.  This will continue for the 4 races of the night.

Points

5-4-3-2-1 (for all other eligible finishers)
NOTE: Drivers must finish the race to be eligible for points. No drop races for the season.

In addition to finishing positions, after each race, each driver on the winning team will receive 3 bonus points.  How do teams win?  Before the races begin, the winning conditions will be determined by the NY State Lottery drawings from the most recent game.  The numbers shown will correlate to the below conditions:

0-Most cars in the top 3
1-Most cars in the bottom 3 (that finish)
2-Fastest lap
3-Most cars on the lead lap
4-Fewest cars on the lead lap
5-Hard Charger (driver with the most position gains)
6-Most laps lead

Race Communications

We will use the CMS Discord MNRL voice channel for race communications. Drivers will receive 3 notifications before being removed by race control during events. Drivers may return to the server once they have joined voice.

The voice channel is only required to monitor race control during the event. You do not need a microphone if you do not want to speak.  If you have a microphone, please use “push to talk” or set voice activation properly to avoid disruptive background noises. Don’t be “that driver”.

Conversation during all sessions is allowed as this is meant to be a fun series with open communication.  Abusive and/or profane language in any form or channel may lead to that driver receiving a sanction up to and including a ban from CMS.

Competition Rules and Stewarding

This series will conform to the CMS General Competition Rules that may be found on the CMS Discord Server except for those special rules mentioned above which override regular rules. All drivers are expected to know the GCR and shall be required to abide by them.  Additional event-specific instructions will be provided via a drivers race brief posted in the CMS Discord and reviewed verbally by the director prior to the race session.

There are no live stewards. A post-race Incident Review Request may be submitted via the RRC Discord for adjudication with any resultant penalties to be served in the next race competed by the driver(s) at fault.  NOTE: Full contact and wrecking is allowed.

rFactor 2 system-assigned penalties during qualification and race sessions must be served. The Race Director will only clear penalties/DQ during practice/warm-up.

Connection Notes

Drivers are strongly advised to reboot their computer just before joining the server on race day. Drivers must also maintain a reasonable connection and appropriate ping rate which does not impact race conditions or else they may be asked to leave the server.
See you on track!
