World Sportscar Championship 1964
Historic sportscar endurance racing returns for another year-long series. Using the Storm Gang Simulation (SGS) 1964 sports car mod – WSC 1964 – the series will feature Division I, II & III cars from the era, competing in multi-category and multi-class racing across the historic World Sportscar Championship calendar from 1964.
SGS‘s “Smart BOP™” ensures competitive racing within the categories while preserving individual car characteristics, affording drivers plenty of options while choosing a car that fits their driving style. Developed with broad support from the racing community, this mod provides an unequalled opportunity for close, competitive and fun historic racing.
VWSC will run a 14 race calendar across a variety of circuits and race formats, including some point-to-point hillclimbs. MNRL will run the same calendar in parallel on Tuesday nights (US ET) the same week, using shorter race lengths.
All races will be broadcasted on the Champion Motorsports YouTube with VWSC races featuring full commentary in partnership with JPBroadcasting
HISTORY
The 1960’s were a wild time for sportscars. Engineers were considering aerodynamics thoughtfully as engines were more powerful in smaller displacements than ever before. Disc brakes were coming into favor, improving stopping power. And new materials and building methods were influencing designs and methods for improving speed and reliability. It was also an evolution to the warring motorsport magnates. Ferrari, Ford and Porsche were all starting to flex but there were plenty of other manufacturers, big and small, who were throwing punches. And it wasn’t just the cars. Locations were improving between street circuits and dedicated road courses. 1964 was a great highlight that brought multiple disciplines to the sport. From the high banks of Daytona to the countryside of Targa Florio, the multiple classes of cars were tested everywhere, even running point-to-point rallies and hill climbs. Truly a trial of endurance driving and robust engineering.

Championships
The rf2la app (password: cmsrocks) will record all sessions and standings. Trophy winners in VWSC will receive physical prizes.
VWSC will have these additional trophies available
Drivers will automatically be entered in the championship appropriate to their choice of class when they pick their car. Drivers are allowed 1 car change within their original category without penalty. Further changes or changing car category will forfeit all points prior to the additional change. Drivers who change class/are reassigned class will likely have points recalculated. See series admin for further details.
VWSC Teams must be composed of 2 (minimum) to 3 (maximum) drivers in the same driver class and car model. Teams must register in the Discord and be approved by the series admin before scoring points as a team. At least 2 team drivers must actively participate to be eligible for a championship standing.
To foster competition, specific team championships will only begin scoring once there are a minimum of 2 registered teams within that category and class. Points will be awarded each race based on the top 2 team driver’s points. There will be 2 ‘drop’ races for each driver over the course of the year. MNRL will not utilize teams.
Driver Classes
There will be two driver classes for this series – Pro and Am in both categories to account for the differing levels of capability and time commitment to be found in our community.
Drivers who have raced in CMS before will have been noted in the stratification for 2024 with the option of moving up a driver class, for the entire year, if they wish. They will then race in a car category as allowed by their driver class. Pro-Am drivers will drive Am in Div III or Pro in Div I&II. Drivers with no prior racing experience in CMS will be required to run a full fuel stint on the practice server and will be temporarily placed in a driver class.
Admins retain the right to reassign a driver up or down a car category if they are not correctly placed based on special circumstances or drivers’ performance.
Points
9-6-4-3-2-1-0.5 (for all eligible finishers thereafter) for MNRL. VWSC uses these points with additional multipliers per race.
NOTE: Drivers must complete 50% race distance and not DNF to be eligible for points.
Custom Liveries and Numbers
CMS standard (default) liveries are provided and drivers are encouraged to paint their own custom liveries. Templates will be provided and will contain a number of required elements (window banners and numberplates) that must be respected. Liveries not containing required elements or containing inappropriate materials will be rejected and drivers may be subject to penalties and/or disciplinary actions. Contact the series admin with questions or concerns.
Livery submissions will be required no later than 1 week prior to Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans. Submissions will not be accepted at any other times or events. “Loose” (alternate, alt, custom) skins may be used on existing driver liveries or default liveries of the same car and class. MNRL will only utilize loose skins.
The use of the VWSC numbering system is required for custom liveries and drivers not yet holding a VWSC racing number may choose from those available, as listed at https://bit.ly/3frj7Aj. Instructions on how to choose either a permanent or series-specific number are provided on the individual pages. MNRL will not require specific numbering but you may be asked to use a different livery/number if it’s identical to another driver in the series.

Race Sign Up (VWSC Only)
Drivers and teams are required to sign up at least 24 hours prior to a race. The registration form will be available shortly after the previous race event and only requires the driver name, team (if applicable) and category/class. Registration is capped to 45 drivers. Drivers will be registered with the following priority:
- Series Registered Teams Drivers – On Sign Up form
- Series Registered Drivers – On Sign Up form
- Series Unregistered Drivers – On Sign Up form
- Arrive & Drive with classification and previous participation (seniority)
- Arrive & Drive with classification (minimum server time approved by admins)
Registered Teams Drivers will receive priority above all other drivers. Additional signups will be placed on reserve and allotted slots as they become available. Drivers not on the sign up list may be allowed to participate if there are available slots and will be prioritized based on the list above.
The server name will be “CMS VWSC [track name]”.
The server race password will be provided at server reset on race day.
NOTE: The grid is LOCKED at 10 minutes to Qualifying. Contact the Race Director/Admins with any questions/issues/concerns.
We will only run a single server and will not split the field into multiple servers.
Race Communications
We will use the CMS Discord VWSC voice channel for race communications. Drivers will receive 3 notifications before being removed by race control during events. Drivers may return to the server once they have joined voice.
The voice channel is only required to monitor race control during the event. You do not need a microphone if you do not want to speak.
If you have a microphone, please use “push to talk” or set voice activation properly to avoid disruptive background noises. Don’t be “that driver”.
Conversation during practice and warm up is encouraged. For qualification and race, only brief communication for session-critical information (eg “car stopped in turn 1”). One sentence then quiet is requested. NO TEXT CHAT ALLOWED during qualification & race. This is reserved for ADMIN USE ONLY.
Abusive and/or profane language in any form or channel may lead to that driver receiving a sanction up to and including a ban from CMS.
Competition Rules and Stewarding
This series will conform to the CMS General Competition Rules that may be found on the CMS Discord Server. All drivers are expected to know the GCR and shall be required to abide by them. Additional event-specific instructions will be provided via a drivers race brief posted in the CMS Discord and reviewed verbally by the director prior to the race session.
Pit Entry/Exit Lines: On circuits that a white line is drawn at the pit road entry or/and exit, crossing this white line to entry or/end exit the pit is prohibited unless specifically permitted in a pre-race brief. Otherwise, it is permissible for tires to step on the white line, but crossing the line with one tire completely will result in a post-race Incident Review Request and penalty.
There are no live stewards. A post-race Incident Review Request may be submitted via the RRC Discord for adjudication with any resultant penalties to be served in the next race competed by the driver(s) at fault.
rFactor 2 system-assigned penalties during qualification and race sessions must be served. The Race Director will only clear penalties/DQ during practice/warm-up.
Connection Notes
Drivers are strongly advised to reboot their computer just before joining the server on race day. Drivers must also maintain a reasonable connection and appropriate ping rate which does not impact race conditions or else they may be asked to leave the server.
See you on track!
