Default TRM Racing announce 2nd V8 Supercar Season

Thought id post this here to let you guys know whats going on, if anyone wants to come across after the fun we had in the CMS Laguna Seca 300 the other week. We've moved from rFactor to Race 07 as the racing appears to be better and more people play it, be nice to see a few of you there. It runs on Mondays at 9pm GMT, so hopefully doesnt clash with anything you have planned.

After weeks of frantic negotiations behind the scenes between TRM Racing Leagues Inc. and track promoters anxious to bring the world famous series to their hallowed race tracks, a press conference at Sebring International Raceway on Monday hailed the beginning of the build up Winter 2012 V8 Supercar Series, which sees a change of software for the drivers to contend with, new rules aimed at improving the racing and visits to some of the worlds best racetracks.

"The new year seemed like a great time to sort things out and get a truly worldwide V8 Supercar series running on many of the worlds best tracks. Our off-season events have proved popular in North America so we are delighted to announce two rounds there, whilst we also visit Europe, Africa, Asia and South America, as well as the series' traditional home in Australia." said organiser Steve Pearce at the packed news conference.

"Sebring have been great hosts for the pre season activities and we thought only fair to offer them a place on the schedule at what we hope to be a crucial time in the season. They will be joined on the North American swing by Montreal, a track that we know the drivers will love with the high speed straights and tight hairpins."

The season gets underway in Africa, becoming the first major motorsport series to visit the continent in a number of years, as drivers prepare to tackle the fabled Kyalami circuit near Johannesburg. Drivers head to Europe for races at Assen, Mallory Park in the UK and Monza before the American swing sees the drivers head to Canada for back to back high speed races. Sebring follows before the home stretch starts with visits to Curitiba, Imola, and Macau, before the season finale in Melbourne.

"We think we've given the drivers a great test on some stunning race tracks. We are particularly delighted about Mallory Park, being near to TRM Racing HQ. They got in touch when they heard about the big V8's and with their long tradition of V8 Thundersaloon racing it seemed natural. We've also added an event at Macau, taking top billing away from the WTCC to make this truly the worlds foremost touring car series."

The series begins on Monday 9th January, with a one week break scheduled for 13th February, finishing in Australia on 19th March.

"We have also decided to allow the use of multiple driving views to aid our new drivers as much as possible, part of our ongoing commitment to helping drivers progress up the ranks. Race 2 at each event will now utilise a rolling start procedure, retaining reverse grids. The only other rule change will see a reduction in the points on offer for qualifying, where only the pole man will receive a 5 point bonus, and a small adjustment to the overall points system but with similar gaps between positions"

It has also been announced that Sebring and Macau will be the Ironman events for Winter 2012, which feature one longer event rather than the usual 2 race format.

More news on the build up to the new season will be available soon, as will details on signup procedures for drivers.
    Anyone interested, TRM Racing Leagues
