Default Some things I've learned about SimBin and Steam.

I am using the downloaded version of the Steam games on Win 7.

I'm running all games online when I activate the Steam.exe because the off line game is not updated.

I always launch the games from RACE 07 on the Steam site as it includes all of the games you have and is where the files are kept for all games.

To download new cars and tracks you will have to Create new folders for GameData\Locations and \Teams in race 07 folder. Cars go in Teams.

    For Tracks:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\your username on steam\race 07\GameData\Locations

    For Cars:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\your username on steam\race 07\GameData\Teams

When downloading mods/addons etc. I send any unzipped folder to downloads. I go to Downloads and unzip the file to the desktop and then minimize Downloads. If I make a mistake I can maximize Downloads and unzip it again w/o having to search for it.

Then open Windows Explorer and drag the file to Locations or Teams. I then check the folder to make sure it went to the right place. If it didn't it's usually just above or below the correct folder. In this way I know where it went if I need to move it.

I will then delete the Zip/Rar file if I no longer need it from downloads but I retain any file that takes a long time to download, just a personal preference and I have lots of space.

Custom Skins is located in the same race 07 folder with Game Data.

XD should be placed in race 07. It will create a d3d9.dll file. When you first start the game it will create a xd.ini file that you can edit via notepad. In Win 7 you'll need Admin rights to save any changes.

How can I get the game to see my profile for my G25? I can't race because the wheel is horrible. I have also tried to remove the helmet view but no matter what I do, it does not change.

Bear in mind that I'm Win 7 and Downloaded everything from Steam.

I have a G27 which it recognized on start up. I built a custom game profile off the G27 and I did have some trouble assigning buttons but a reboot solved that after I removed the ability for games to change my Logitech Controller Profile settings. I use a specific Steam Profile in the Logitech Controller and I do not let any game change my settings.

Is it possible the G25 was not plugged in when you installed Steam or you might try unplugging the USB cable and reinserting. Maybe some one that has a G25 can provide a solution.

Drag the .dds file out of the visor folder into \Teams. You have to remove "clear" in the file name as Phil said in his post.

Do you have the G27 profile linked to the Steam.exe?

I would think you would link it to the RACE07.exe and not Steam, but I havent played with it yet .

    The path: C:\Users\Vern\My Documents\SimBin\RACE 07\UserData\ControlSet

If you have a controller listed here try to use it to set up a custom G25 profile in the game. It should show up when you launch RACE 07 if it's listed here.

Launch Steam then RACE 07. Go to Options and Controller. Be sure and use the Advanced and Force Feedback screens too in your controller setup options in Steam. There are 3 different screens and they all affect the wheel operation.

That is the problem David. There is no Race07.exe. If I link it to the steam.exe it works until I get into the game and than I lose the settings. If I back up my game to a CD, can I do an install without going through Steam?

I misunderstood your first post. I thought you couldn't find a G25 profile at all. If I understand correctly you have a profile but it loses it's settings when you get into RACE 07. I can't find a Race07.exe file, only the Steam.exe. Your problem is similar to what I experienced with allowing the game to make changes in the Logitech Controller. When I unchecked them and made them specific and then rebooted the PC it retained my settings in the game after they were reset.

Sorry for the confusion and hopes this helps.
