    US Track Racers
    '09 Cadillac CTS-V
    '08 Dodge Challenger SRT8
    '09 Chevrolet Camaro
    '08 Dodge Charger SRT8 "Super-Bee"

    US TRACKS
    Laguna Seca
    Road America

Its an add on to Race07 like GTR EVo, so if you have Evo then you can run the Challenger and Camaro against the Viper and the Vettes too.

    No

You have the option of 2 install types, online or offline (you can do both). Online requires steam and you can race on or offline. Offline install boots faster, but only allows offline racing.

I've had steam for maybe 2yrs now, and had no problems with it. Autopatching games is pretty nice in that you do not have to worry about patch mismatches with servers.

Just wondering, because I really wish Simbin would divorce themselves from Steam. To be honest, I've never really had any have problems with steam, although it was a little bugging with EVO. I'll probably still get it though. I'm interested to drive the American Metal.

As someone with two gaming systems: one my desktop at home, and the second my laptop for whem I'm on the road, all I can say is this about Steam: great than sliced bread.

Troy, I haven't had a problem with Steam and Evo... what kind of problems were/are you having?

It's simply a personal issue. I don't like the way steam puts everything into a predetermined directory structure. I don't like the idea of having to run steam, just to gain access to a game. (That's like asking me to log into MSN every time I wanted to use windows explorer.) Forced auto updates, offline mode restrictions, and phishing are a few more issues that I have with steam. Lastly, when I purchase a product I want a tangible object that I can put my hands on. If I want to reinstall, rebuild, etc...I want to be able to grasp the disk, pop it in the machine an go about my business with being worried about an internet connection.

Call me old school, but I'm just simply not a fan of medium.

Bottom line: Considering all the content that is available for GTR2/rFactor and the possibility of league play being made available in IRacing...well there are plenty of other more palatable racing options for me and that ultimately makes it very easy for me to ignore any steam offerings at the moment.

Troy, there is a work around to putting Steam games where ever you want, and its actually pretty easy to do. Let's say that your Steam game is located on c:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\STEAMUSERNAME\GAMENAME--where of course your Steam username and the name of the actual game would be--and you want all of you games on your giant 2 TB d:\games. Here is how you do it:
    1. Move the folder of the game to your desired directory... for this example, let's say you want to move GTR2 and you want to move it to d:\games, so you cut and paste like you would any other directory from c:\program files\steam\steamapps\TroyDalton\GTR2 to d:\games\gtr2.
    2. Open up the command prompt (type cmd into run, or if using Windows VISTA or 7, type cmd into the search bar)
    3. In the command prompt, type the following:
      mklink /J c:\program files\steam\steamapps\TroyDalton\GTR2 d:\games\gtr2

That's it! Now, when Steam goes to run GTR 2, it will look in the ...\program files\steam\steamapps\... etc, directory. Thanks to the awesome power of mklink, you have created a hard link that "fools" the program into thinking the file is located there, but in actuality is located where ever you actually want to store all that stuff!

What mklink does is create junctions within Windows. It is how your user profile is handled (c:\users), as well, within Windows 7 the libraries are done. By using mklink you are actually creating your own links, thus extending the power of these selected directories beyond the users and libraries.
