GTR Evolution Friday Night Server

I host a GTR Evolution server every Friday night at 9 PM ET.

We usually run races anywhere from 60-120 minutes, or until enough people get tired and leave, lol. I serve with a fast system and my ISP is Verizon FiOS (fiber optic).

It may not be the standard cup of tea for racers here, but we have a blast! Just ask Phil E (Fun Series Coordinator) -- he's a regular.

Here's the format and server info:

We run F3000s one Friday and WTCC Extreme cars on the next Friday. Alternating back and forth. We also have the weather set to Random, so it might just rain on a race or three.

The races are a very short, 6 minutes. There is no qualifying and no practice, etc. Just race after race. If the better drivers get placed randomly at the back of the grid, that's just the way it is... work your way through traffic!

There are no points, just bragging rights and good fun.

There is no damage and we use Pro mode (auto clutch is allowed).

It's fast and furious and an occasional jamming of your car into a corner for a pass that shouldn't be tried is not unheard of. No, it's usually not a crash-fest, but it can get aggressive in a friendly sort of way.

Sounds like fun! Do you run fixed setups? Sadly, I never get to play EVO, so I am lacking emensly in any setups... or time to put some together for that matter.

No fixed setups, Andrew, but I can share a few of mine if you want.

It usually runs without too many glitches, although the dedicated server for Evo leaves a little bit to be desired...

On the rare crash of the server it's back up and running in minutes.

With the Extreme cars, I just crank up the wing (as little as there is) and adjust the gear ratios for each track. I wouldn't get too involved for these short races -- just wing it and you'll do fine.

The F3000s seem to do better with a little more setup, but again, wing it. We're just there to rub some fenders and have a blast.
