    Default v1.255 patch

In case everyone wasn't aware of it yet, ISI made an announcement regarding a patch for rFactor to v1.255. The reason for this patch was to bring it up to a compatibility level that would be equal to a retail version being sold in Europe.

Until it is necessary to upgrade due to incompatibility issues with Matchmaker, or enough has been said to assure everyone that the patch doesn't cause any problems, then we can discuss upgrading. But until then, stay away from upgrading unless you want to miss Fun races here!!!

BTW, if you do plan to upgrade, make sure you have your activation info handy, because you will need to enter it in, as well as have an activation available....

Here's all that I have read:

For those that wish to update from v1250 to the v1255 here is some information before you proceed.

This update was created to address some online security issues, add additional overall stability, and match the new retail DVD version recently released in Europe. The update consists of these files: rFactor.exe
    rFactor Dedicated.exe
    Plugins\NetCommUtilPlugin.dll

PLEASE NOTE: You will be required to reactivate rFactor if you upgrade to v1255. Before you do this, find or get your original confirmation email. Make sure you can locate your Activation Number, Order Number and email address used. If you need a new confirmation email sent out to you, visit TryMedia.

Download the update from any mirror site. First move the original files into a \Backup directory. Unzip the contents of the update ensuring you replace all three files. Once you run the new version of rFactor, it will ask you to Buy/Unlock. Follow the Already Paid link at the lower right of the first purchase screen, using the Activation Number and email address from the confirmation email.

If you need to have your email changed or your activations reset, please send a request to purchase@rfactor.net

The retail version 1255 is a compilation of
    Full version 1150
    Brianza and Jiading circuits
    Update version 1250
Panoz Esperante and 2007 Sauber BMW F1 vehicle add-ons
    Update version 1255

Q: Can I play online with people who have the retail DVD.
A: Yes, so long as you have upgraded to v1255.

Q: While this update work if I have v1150 or below?
A: No, this update will only work on v1250.

Q: Is there a full install for v1255.
A: There is a retail DVD version of 1255 and a digital version will be made available in the future.

ISI has now officially released the v1.255 patch as an official patch, known as version "F", and with it comes the following upgrades:

    - Faster loading time when starting up rFactor (as much as 75% faster!)
    - Quicker load times switching between mods
    - Shorter track load times (really fast!)
    - New sounds to replace the existing ones that were part of the original ISI package. These sounds not only include the engine and tires, but other environmental sounds that are used in most mods!!!
    - New network plug-ins that will create even better multiplayer racing!!!

    Now, please note following:

I decided to test the new patch with the ILMS Mod's current build, and while there's no issues with the mod whatsoever, I did have to re-enter my registration information the first time I started up rFactor after installing the patch.

So, if you have renewals left to use, find your numbers and you're good to go. If you don't have renewals left, or you don't know if you do or can't find the information, then you need to email either purchase@rfactor.net or support@trymedia.com and request more renewals.

Next, if you're still running version 1.250, download the version HERE and unzip to a temporary location. Then, copy over the existing rfactor.exe and rfactordedicated.exe with the ones from the patch. Then you can just copy the Gamedata and Plugin folders from the patch location into your rFactor folder overwriting all files. You're not at the point of no return!

The next time you start rFactor, you will be greeted with the registration screen, and you need to click on the "already paid" link in the bottom right hand corner. In the next screen, copy in your registration information from the email with that info in it, as well as the email address you registered rFactor with, and voila! You're done!!

    Oh, one more thing....

Until the server you race is updated to v1.255, you can't race on it!!!

But, I would hope that within the next few days everyone will read about all of the great additions this patch makes to rFactor and moves ahead with the patch....it's definitely worth it!!!

I hope this helps everyone....and trust me, I'm not having any problems and load times are awesome!!!

only one problem...seems you cant run both a 1250 and a 1255 (ie. 2 instances of rfactor) w/o using up a renewal every time you switch between them.
I updated an instance w/ a bunch of mods to 1255...had to renew as instructed..no problem.
Went back to run my rfactor 1250 for the Megane Champion Motorsports series...had to use another renewal.
Went back to start the 1255 version and it asked for yet another renewal.
What a bunch of Horse shit to have to go through.
Not impressed w/ this feature of the new rFactor patch

Then we will STAY with 1250 as far as I'm concerned.. runs good, stable, Don't see why we can't stay there as long as we want to.

Well..I would say we probably should switch and just get it over with.
It is better, but a pain in the butt at the moment trying to run 2 different versions.

I'd vote for switching to 1255F... seeing I already upgraded my only version installed! lol It runs fine, so I don't see why we shouln't upgrade

    Hi Guys,

I have been following your switch or don't switch saga. Over at SSR we are going through the same quandry. We decided that we would switch on Monday after seeing if you guys have any issues pop up. VOR is switching on Monday after their race as well.

We have guys in all three leauges so the admins of SSR wanted to somewhat coordinate to make things easier on our drivers.

    so, any problems yet?

    Thanks
    Greg

From My POV everything went smoothly.. Server update was seamless and My personal update went flawlessly as well.

Several of us have been the server after the update with no issues.
