    Default Two New rF2 Screenshots

Follow the link below and look at the two new hi-res screenshots from rFactor 2.

    http://www.virtualr.net/rfactor-2-tw...ots-available/

The 67 F1 car screenshot at Spa is stunning....and the amount of landscaping in the second shot is very impressive. Don't bother reading the comments below the pictures though....haters abound. Everyone thinks it should look like Gran Turismo 5 or something....

It looks like quite an improvement, especially the Spa shot. Let's hope the physics will be considerably improved (and there is no reson to believe they won't be).

    I'm looking forward to it.

The lighting is a still bit flat and it looks painted. Overall it could probably use more contrast and better lighting to give it some more depth, but it still looks nice. I just don't see a huge improvement from rF.

Im going to hold off judgment till I see the actuall game on my system. Cant always tell by a screen shot, and as I understand it "these" screen shots were not officially released by ISI AND were captured from a video file. Not knowing the source, how the vid was captured, or how the screen caps were taken from the video means a ton of things could have had an impact on the quality of the screenie.

Im still hopefull we are in for a pleasant suprise.

From a sheer graphical POV, take a look at Dirt2. I know, Dirt2 is a different game from the usual rF fare, but the graphics are stunning and it has enhancements for DX11 users. rF2 better be at least up to that level or it will be a graphical disappointment.

Prepare to be disappointed then. Dirt2, F1 2010, and the forthcoming Dirt3 all use EGO and PhyreEngine cross-platform graphics. All ISI and Simbin titles, including F1 Challenge 99'-02', use the rather dated gMotor2 engine. That should explain why all those titles look so very similar and why they look dated compared to games with more modern graphics engines.

Full-price games should have full-price graphics engines, IMO. Constantly being behind doesn't really cut it. Frankly, if not for the massive mod support, rFactor would just be another bargain title.

I guess it really depends on where you put your priorities.

$40 for a title with a great physics engine and slightly dated graphics or $60 for fantastic graphics and arcade physics.

That's true in some instances, but take a look at the new F1 2010 game coming out in the fall from Codemasters. I wouldn't call that arcade physics by the way they are describing things in the videos and the web site. Looks like it will be very realistic and based on a modern graphics engine to boot. I concede your point on some other titles, though.

The links were posted in another thread, but here they are again:
