This is what I got out of it...(correct me if I'm wrong)

Components: Completed cars, tracks, sounds, UIs, HUDs, Skins or Showrooms.
Single player Mode: The user has access to all downloaded components.
Multiplayer Mode: Race Series or Mods.

Here is the cool part...each Series or Mod is assigned a Mod ID and can be tested online via users who have access to that Mod ID. Once the Series or Mod is ready for prime time, it is given a Submit ID and it is then sent to matchmaker. The mod is now available to all.

When you buy rF2 you have access to all components, race series, and mods. If you want to upload/manage a race series or mod, that'll cost a nominal yearly fee.

The cool part is that the end user never has to worry about getting mismatches, because the final version of the mod is always located on a central server.

Also, it means that rfactorcentral.com days of hoarding and charging for mods is just about over, because all race series and mods will be served up by the rFactor multiplayer server. In simple terms, it's a little bit like steam and iRacing, but without all the bloated steaming pile of code or outrageous cost of iRaping.

But a "locked" mod with a fixed ID doesn't allow your own skins for your league, does it? Otherwise it would genreate mismatches for added cars - except your "league-mod" with the skins gets it's own ID but if everybody does so the ID has to be like 32789462784524652765 after a year because there a millions of championships and events on rF.

Personally I think that system is just pure rubbish, lets hope they have something for league useage otherwise rF2 is already dead for me now .

Brian, you now have to join RFC -- at $40 a year -- to download.

I agree with you, Marcel. There's one Endurance Mod, but probably thousands of groups using that mod with different skin packages. The amount of storage space Matchmaker would need to store all those as individual mods is ridiculous. More power to 'em if they can make it work, but it seems to me this would turn into a monster in very short order.
