Thumbs up Problems Shifting... not any more

    Hey,

Thought I would post up my recent experience in rFactor2 regarding an issue some of us were noticing while using sequential shifting via paddle shifters.

I had initially thought my paddle shifter was getting wonky... but it works fine in other games. It got to the point I was double downshifting two or three times every lap, grabbing first in a corner when you are not expecting it is unnerving, it caused me to spin often...I was losing seconds a lap trying to be careful shifting and it seemed to be getting worse...

Well I found some help on the good ol' "internets" where others had experienced the same thing but with the TH500 Thrustmaster.

The solution is to go into the PLR file and there is a line to increase the response time between shifts. It works like a champ now. I guess my paddle shifter is little tooooo sensitive.

I set mine to the value "3"

    Repeat Shifts="3" // 0 = no repeat shift detection, 1 = detect and eliminate accidental repeat shifts within 100ms, 2 = 150ms, 3 = 200ms, 4 = 250ms, 5 = prevent shifting again before previous shift is completed

I would uninstall. Then download the lite installer and the tracks and cars you want. With the more recent versions, the build in updater works.

Mikey, I think that uninstalling and than installing the latest build would be the best in your case since you are still at build 156.
Just do the uninstall then download the lite installer and run it. Once it is installed you can download and install whatever tracks and mods you like.
Also in the future ISI has the update feature work pretty good so no more of this stuff.

Lopsided darlin', you saved my life. I was caught in rFactor2 automatic update hell until I found your detailed "how to" post. Go find your hubby and get a big hug from him as a reward. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

oooo, that's so sweet, thank you dear.
I've been fighting in the trenches of rf2 for a while and I suppose I've just encountered many of it's issues. If it makes me look smart or helpful I'll TAKE IT! lol But it's only a case of 'been there, done that'. Glad it helped. I can't recall what I wrote, sure hope it isn't out of date. haha
