I think it would be the final version of the initial release (I could be wrong). The final version of rF2 wouldn't be out for several years though as they update it.

Below somewhat confirms what i have heard for the past couple months, Of course until it happens it's nothing more than rumor. But i would tend to believe him more than random internet postings.

I think we'll see an open public beta before the end of the year, but since Gjon said there will be a "decent open beta" period and it's already October, I wouldn't expect a 1.0 release until 2012.....
