    Default Rf Lite vs Rf Stripped

    Can someone tell me if these are the same?

    I am thinking my Rf (Rf Stripped) keeps getting corrupted comms for an unknown reason....

    After completely reformatting my Windows drive, new windows install and reloading clean installs of Rf multiple times, I've been able to connect to the ILMS server twice for a total time of about 5 minutes....Now every attempt at joining on online game is met with "Matchmaker did not respond", or when attempting to join chat server "Chat server refused connection"

    I just have zero idea what t do now......

    Just curious, when did this start happening, and has it worked properly in the past? I am not an expert by any means but this doesnt really sound rFactor related. Got any fierwalls issues that you know of?

    Brian;
    my ESET is configured to allow Rf to allow communication in and out, the software firewall in my Linksys router is disabled.

    Funny thing is I deleted my stripped Rf and installed the Lite and the same problems are happening....

    Contacted my internet provider (Hughesnet) thinking that maybe I needed to change a setting in the Hughes modem...but they said no...

    Calling Linksys now to try and configure the router correctly..Would LATENCY be and issue. (My latency is about 1500ms), is there a way to configure Rf to take this into account? I have ZERO problems with my web browser connecting.

    Chris,

    Is rFactor listed among the exceptions in your Windows Firewall?

    1500ms latency is way to high for joining and staying connected to any gaming or sim server,as that number is actualy 1.5sec and anything above about 150ms is getting to high.
    You definately have a problem with your internet settings somewhere either at the modem[ISP bandwidth stabilty] or at the router [not likely].
    You need a stable connection for all online gaming but browsing is ok as it does not seem slow because it uses the downstream bandwidth but gaming is dependent on a stable upstream level.

    Chris are you using Direct TV or Dish Net work for your internet connection? Do you have the option to get DSL, Cable or one of those Shared WiFi connections? If so I think you will have much better results for gaming with them then you will with a connection the orbits the earth.

    Ha ha ha good luck on that I once had to call Their tech support for a problem I was having with one of their wirelesss web cameras and thats about 72 hours of my life I'll never get back! I could barely hear her over the phone noise, when I could hear her I couldnt understand a single word she said, she obviously couldnt understand a word I said, and appeard to have less knowledge of the product than I did. Hope you have better luck than I did

    Windows firewall configured to allow Rf exceptions / Eset alllows Rf exceptions / Lynksis router also allows. Linksys helped to configure my router for Rf gaming, took about 2 hours.

    We just moved to the country and so the only broadband here is Satellite. I can look around some more, I don't think there's a shared wifi in our neighborhood. Putting one in is EXPENSIVE (10k apparently). I would love to be back on DSL or cable.

    We are on Hughesnet sattelite, with Hughesnet modem and equipment. Went with them because they have the least bandwidth restriction of the 2 local providers...I might have to upgrade to a faster speed or something. Thanks for the info Joe that was very helpful.

    BTW I can join the servers now...Very laggy connection. DL'd the latest chipset drivers and that seemed to work.
    Cheers;

    There are a few things that you can do to try to cut down the latency Chris,but I will have to do some sums,and a few tests before I post here.
    Will post in a couple of days.
