    Default Race2Play Presents the 2009 Indianapolis 500

This looks like it should be a fun event this year! Last year we had two entries from CMS in the race. David Anderson and Jerry McCommas. Anderson would end up with a solid top 10 run in 7th overall at the end of the race. The Story for the event from CMS is located HERE

Here is the info on this year's race.

Due to the large entry list, this event will require a qualifying procedure. The 40 fastest drivers will qualify into the 2009 Indianapolis 500. The rest will still have an opportunity to race in our Indianapolis 250 "overflow" event.

How to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 event
    First Go Here
    http://www.race2play.com/homepage/show_posts/11496

Enter any of the Qualifying sessions available:

(Be on time or you will miss the qualifying. Each session will last only 5 minutes)
    May 16th - Combined
May 17th - Combined (top two rows fixed at the completion of this day)
    May 18th - Euro | USA
    May 19th - Euro | USA
If you require a separate session please contact Tim McArthur. It must be completed on or before the 19th

Each qualifying session will be 4 timed laps (private qualifying). All 4 timed laps will be combined and averaged to represent your qualifying time. At the completion of all days of qualifying, the top-40 drivers will be fixed into the 2009 Indianapolis 500 event and the grid order for the race will be set by those times.

The entry list will be sorted based on the qualifying times as they are logged.

    Q & A for event

Q: Can we enter multiple qualifying sessions?
A: Yes, only your best 4-lap combined time will be used

Q: Do we have to use pit in/out lanes?
A: Pit-in can be done off T4 (use the access road if you are damaged). Pit-out should use the full access road all the way THROUGH turn-2.

Qrivers must complete all 4 laps for their run to count?
A: Yes, the qualifying is an average of all 4 laps.

Looks like fun; not sure what track and mod they are using. I downloaded and installed the Indy track at their website and practiced for a couple of hours tonight using the Open Wheel Racing mod in rFactor. I got down into the 43s with a 43.1 being my best time.

Am I using the right mod and track? If so, is that time even competitive?

One annoying thing I noticed. The car wanders something fierce in the straights; very difficult to drive in a straight line. That makes setting up entry points in the turns tough; hard to gain any consistency.

Kevin and I are entered. We are working on a qual setup. It looks like we are half a second behind the fast guys. When I last looked there were over 70 entries, so there is no guarantee we will even make the show.

Charlie you want to be in the low 40's for qual and at least in the 41's for the race.

LOL, think I'll sit it out then. I was running with 7/7 boost and 1/1 for wing and close to redline in 6th. Not sure how anyone gets any more power or speed than that, and the car is almost impossible to handle in those conditions.

Rob would you consider sharing your setup?

Charlie, throw some rear toe-out on the car to get it to stop wandering on the straights...but not too much or you'll slow the car down!
