My online server list in the game is empty

Howdy,
I have run into a problem that I have never had before. I went into my game to connect to a CMS server and my entire online games list was empty. It says No Games Available. After trying the refresh button, I suspected that maybe match.rfactor.net was down and so I tried their other IP's provided on their website and still could not get a list going. I ended up resorting to the Add button and putting the server info in manually.

I have been using the work around and putting in the server info manually and I can connect that way. But it sure would be nice to have my server list back.

Any suggestions on what I need to fix?

I just tried,and my server list is showing,try again now.
If you are still not getting a list try the server refresh button [top left,the green one],it might sort it out.
note:sorry,you say you have already refreshed,so if you are still not getting a list check that your setting are set to internet not LAN in rfactor.

Getting on the same page:

When you CLICK 'Join', you get a matchmaker not found and the server list doesn't populate.

CLICKing Refresh has no effect.

You CAN connect to CMS servers by entering their IP address and port number.


Troubleshooting:

Open a command prompt [CLICK START, CLICK Run.., type in 'cmd']

In the command prompt window type the following: 'ping match.rfactor.net'

Do you get a reply?

If not then you may have a DNS server issue through your provider and/or router because direct IP is working.


Just trying get us all on the same page so others can weigh in with their expertise also.

I had tried the ping before and it went through but I tried it again just be sure nothing had changed. It went through just fine. You can see the results here:

Also, I have tried the other match maker IPs and still nothing:

I have installed Server Spy (outside of rFactor) but that was after the list in the game disappeared. I thought maybe I could use it to log on but it times out when attempted. All the servers show up in the Server Spy game list but I am yet to make it logon to the game servers like it will attempt to do.

Below is what I see when I click the Join button in the game. There is nothing. It doesn't give any indication that anything is working. No messages; nothing. I can use the blue Add button to login to a server with but that is it.:

I have added the following items in the game recently:
1. A few tracks and setups
2. rfDynHUD v1.01 I really like this mod so I hope that isn't it...

For tonight, I will use the direct IP and get into the DDP LMS server that way.

Val, I could be way off base here but to me this sounds like it "could" be a firewall issue. Wont hurt to try this.

Assuming you have only one firewall going, try opening up your router configuration utility and going into your port handling tab, (normaly something like "applications and gamimg") and open up the following ports.

34397-34416 UDP
34447-34460 TCP

I was finally able to get it going. I had to back up rFactor then do a clean install. I am back up and running. Thank all of you for the help!!!!!
