    Default Loading Circuit Problem

    Hi all.
So I decided to do an uninstall and then reinstall the game
and only reinstall the mods that I was currently using.

So after reinstalling the game without installing any mods
I started up the game all was well until I clicked on the
load circuit, the game shut down. So I restarted and
same thing. So I uninstalled and reinstalled, same thing.
So I went in and deleted all files pertaining to rFactor that were on
my hard drive and did a reinstall and am still having the same problem.

I was having no problems before I did the initial uninstall
I just decided that things were getting a bit cluttered and
thought that I would clean it up a bit and figured uninstalling and reinstalling would be the easiest way to accomplish this.

I am running the game in XP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    kurt

You must have a track available in the tracks folder.

    Thanks Mike.
All the tracks that come loaded on the game disc are there and I have gone
into the locations folder and verified that they are indeed there. Nothing looks
out of place to me, but then again I am not 100% sure what all is supposed to
    be in each track folder.

Thanks for trying to help I appreciate it.

I generally clean the registry after doing an uninstall, particularly if I am going to reinstall to a different drive. You might uninstall, clean the registry, then try a fresh install and see if that helps.

Thanks Charlie. I would not be 100% sure what I would be looking for if I opened
regedit so I ran CCleaner which from what I understand cleans the registry up.

So what I did and the order I did it in is: uninstalled rFactor, did a restart, ran
CCleaner, did a restart, reinstalled rFactor.

    Still having the same problem.

But I decided to add the Serie Internationale Du Mans series to see if I could maybe run from that and now when I click on Load Circuit I get "No Opponent
    Selected"

    Thanks for your help.

    Kurt,

Make sure that you delete all the folders when you uninstall. An uninstall does not delete everything from your file directory structure. Some have had a similar problem to yours and have solved it by deleting their old .hat files. If you delete all the old folders, that will get rid of the .hat files.

Also, you are reinstalling rFactor from the disk, correct, and not just copying an installation from one drive to another? You probably already know this, but you can't just copy the files over. You have to do an install.

If none of this works, post a screenshot of your directory structure for rFactor. Maybe there's a missing driver or file that someone will detect.

I sure did Mike. Thanks for asking. But now I am wondering if the disc i bought is the problem. I am going to try loading on a different 'puter and see what happens.

Ok so this morning I ran a anti-virus scan and it came up with some malicious files from a track that I had downloaded
from a, shall we say dubious site. So I am no longer going download stuff from just any site I happen to find.
The thing is I thought that I had removed all files that
pertain to rFactor but apparently I had not. So I am going to have to do some more checking.
I don't know if this will solve my problem but I am sure that having those files on my computer sure couldn't have been helping.

I am at work now so I will have to let you guys know what I find out when I get home tonight.

    Try this Kurt:
    1)Uninstall rfactor again.
2)Open regedit and delete ALL sections [keys] that contain the words "rFactor" and/or "ISI".
3)Check that there are no folders on your drive[s] that are rfactor folders.
    4)Reboot your PC.
5)Reinstall rfactor from your disk [or downloaded file],if you use a disk go to the rFactor.net site and download the disk update patch file,it is at the top in the downloads section.
6)Run rFactor once and input your driver name etc and just use the one car that it gives you for now.
7)Go to test screen and pick any track that is on the list,if it gives a "no opponents" message, click on opponents and highlight some, but in test mode it should not need them.
8)If the track loads [it should],then in the text window type "ISI_BABYFACTORY" no quotes, then leave the track.
9)If all of the above worked then you can just add more mods, buy more cars and race.
    GL.
    Joe.
