I run the same OS on all my machines and although I've never had a mouse issue, I do have issues with other USB devices. Mostly my G35 not loading at startup.
I see USB Selective Suspend and I Disabled that.
I went into the mouse prefs and turned off the option to hide pointer while typing - I doubt this will make a difference, but then again this is a M$ product we're dealing with.
I don't have a PS/2 mouse. This is a relatively new M$ mouse I am using right now.
