Default Chris Hamilton rFactor problems . any ideas?

Chris posted this tonight in the Silverstone Stories thread, but I didnt want it to get buried in there. does anyone have any suggestions for him?

Man, did my best to log in but am experiencing technical difficulties with rf

when I go to "join" it shows Server update in progress but never finishes ..and "Matchmaker service temporarily unavailable". Racecast light is green...and can join thru racecast website as spectator (some of you guys were driving great laps btw) and as a driver (logged into SCC mod at Road A and drove without probs), but "In game" never lists servers.....Had no issues prior to last update...Drove Donnington practice without probs. Have latest GT2 and Pace car installed...

    Any help Pleeeaase!!!!!!!!!

    Mods please close thread......
Installed 1.92e config with rfm's and all works like a charm on my original Rf instance. logged into server thru Rf, had no driving issues at Watkins. Thank you whoever fixed that in patch... Server did not ask for password though.....Joe Owens said same.

    Dunno why????

Chris have you changed ANYTHING since Donnington?,, New software, update, delete? ANYTHING?

Sounds like some needed com widget is corrupt... MAY require complete removal and reinstall of rF...

    Mike..
Only changes besides ILMS updates have been the addition of AVG Antivirus.
That's always turned off unless I tell it to scan. I deleted my old Zone Alarm, thinking that might be the problem..no changes..Added ZA back..no changes.

Tried Gunnys "upping server refresh" in Multiplayer.ini no changes

I can join the server if I open Inet explorer and join thru racecast (kinda backdoor but it works..though I think it slows my performance a bit) and did just that a sec ago without probs.

Was thinking I might try a reinstall of 1255....???, and/or was hoping this problem could be an editable setting somewhere (ala .ini files) I've noticed my load times are really slow

As far as screens go...When I click the join button I see a few messages...

Internet Update started (in upper right) (never finishes)
Matchmaker service temporarily unavailable (server list window)
Matchmaker service not responding (bottom middle)

Was looking through the Rf directories for "connectivity stuff" couldn't find..I have a backup available so if I can locate current com files I can compare them and possibly cut and paste?

I am thinking to try a reinstall of the latest patch as starters, and if that doesnt work a complete reinstall of rFactor may be in order ...

I'd do latest rf patch 1st. 1.255F be sure and NOT do the cd version but DO get the cd version of dedicated.exe.

Get it all updated and try to join in a native rfactor mod like S/R or holden etc...if all well there try CMS if it craps get the 1.91 mod again or maybe a new one by that time.

Do you have a copy of Bob Dunlops stripped 1255F rFactor........ you may want to download it and do a "fresh" and stand alone install for CMS. Actually that would prolly be the best solution.

Thanks Mike...Updated my RF backup to 1255f with same probs

Googled Bobs stripped patch and searched here..Will contact him directly and then do complete reinstall for CMS.

    Thanks!
