    Default CanAm mod (1969ish)

Wow, I have always wanted someone to make a CanAm mod. Used to have a race on the schedule up here. Almost felt like we were a big important city. Here is the info I had received.

    CANAM MOD RELEASE

This is the release of the new CanAm Mod which will be raced following the
end of the current MNRL / CARS Sunday F5000 season. The MNRL is pleased
to be the sole provider of this mod.

    THE MOD
The CanAm mod is modeled after cars in the 1971 CanAm series.

    Four marques:
    McLaren M8F ( Challenge category)
    Porsche 917 ( Challenge category)

    BRM P154 (SCCA category)
    Lola T260 (SCCA category)

The CanAm season format will be the same as the F5000:
two races per evening with both a Challenge and an SCCA Championship.
The series will use fixed setups.

The cars are completely identical in class, save the body style.
Drivers from last season's Challenge class will drive either the
McLaren or the Porsche, while last season's SCCA drivers
will choose from the BRM or the Lola. Preseason testing
has validated that the the cars, in class, perform identically.

    UPGRADES
You have a choice of three different sound packages. Try them all then choose your favorite or alternate as you wish.

The website is at www.mnrlonline.com and this series will race on Sunday nights. Thanks to Phil for allowing this post. Maybe see some of you in a CanAm car.

PS - Does anyone have Bobs Track Builder?

    Hey King,
Good thing I only have the kids (5) every other weekend should get some races in. BTW it usually rains here on the weekends.
Only have a few more warm weekends before the snow comes again! lol

I'm in love with this MOD. I have always loved the CAN-AM series. Maybe because I never saw it and there has been little footage up until recently. It just has a mystic and legend.

DL the beta and had a go at Midohio in all 4 chasiss. Need to mess around with the gears quite a bit to get the right ratios. Blew a few engines, just like GPL you have to be careful of the red line. didn't tweek the chassis but I already like the feel, lots 'o' power, little brakes and not overly heavy.

    drool......

Have to see if I can find more time in a day. what time do you guys start sunday nights

I was lucky enough to attend a CanAm race at the Edmonton Alberta track in the early 1980's. Man those thing were loud!!! Which I had a camera back then

    Default Speed Odyssey

They were the most awsome cars I've ever seen. Donna (me wife) and I got to see CanAM events at Watkins Glen and St.Jovite in 1969 and St. Jovite in 1970. Got a copy of Speed Odyssey (good stuff) to take another look at our adventures. Unfortunately, no footage of the 1969 races at the Glen or St. Jovite were in the film. They did however have footage of the 1970 St. Jovite race. Jackie Oliver's Ti 22 got airborn coming over the hump in the back "straight", went about 20 feet in the air and came down inverted. I don't know who took the film of this in Speed Odyssey, but he must have been standing on my foot at the time. From that spot you could see a surprising amount of the track in four quadrants. You got to stand pretty close to the track back then and the ground shook as they passed by enough to register on the richter scale.
St. Jovite was a beautiful track and very demanding. Raced on it only once in sims....a formula Atlantic series run on RFC. Can't run CanAm without St.Jovite. Only thing I've seen that compares were the Porsche 917's at the 1970 Daytona 24 Geeeeeezzzzz that was sweet. Think Donohue drove a Javalin in that one
