    Default Assistance Requested

    All,

I keep having a problem with rFactor and my setups staying loaded.

A the start of the night everything is just fine. My setup is loaded and assigned and it works just great in practice, server moves to Q and everthing is fine (I use my race setup to Q, so no loading of a q setup), server moves to warmup and everything is fine, drive around to find my pit stall. Server goes to race, I go to garage, select my race setup, click load and assign. As happened in tonight's race, I get on the grid and the default setup is loaded with a 1st gear such that when we I try to start the warmup lap, I immedately loop it and take out most everyone behind me.

Does ANYONE have any idea how to fix this problem?

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

When the race starts try just clicking load. Also if the setup is listed you shouldn't have to load it again.

Not sure if this would matter, but, are you saving your setup in the correct folder? If, by accident, you're saving it in \Received, or somewhere else, it might be going back to the default setup when a session changes.

    Ahhh,

But that's the issue. The only reason I'm loading it is because this has occured no matter what I do.

I've had races where I didn't do anything and it worked fine.
I've had races where I clicked load only and it worked fine.
I've had races where I clicked load and assign and it worked fine.

I've also had where I did those things above and I ended up with the default setup on the grid...

    Another question...

What recourse is there if this happens? The car is undrivable and is the only action available to exit the race?

    Thanks!

Have you tryd doing a fresh install of rFactor? And by fresh I mean carry nothing over from your previous install except maybe your controller ini.

    Brian,

Yes. This is a new Windows 7 install with a fresh install of rFactor. I'm going to try again with a new rFactor install with nothing carried over.

The thing is that I've had this problem with a WinXP install last year.

    We'll see what happens.

Henry, at risk of stating something you may have tried already, it is my experience that rfactor and win7 only play nicely when "run as administrator" is used. This can be set in the shortcut properties. Causes all sorts of player file confusion if not used, things like not owning the correct vehicle or not loading the track or just random booting from the game...worth a shot if you haven't tried it already.
