    Default adding sounds?

Hey guys I have a quick question...
I am using the Rf Lite for my gaming. Recently my GF and I signed up for the Skip Barber 3 day race school at Laguna Seca. She's been apprehensive about driving the open wheel version of the school....so in an attempt to acclimate her I added the Rf Trainers to the Lite install, but no engine sounds. I then found an old install and copied and pasted the sound files and then added the SFX files I thought were corrrect...Still no engine sounds.

Any help on adding and replacing sounds would be great.....tutorial anyone??

    Cheers,
    CH

Chris, did you download the mod from somewhere else, or download the mod pack from the DDP section of CMS?

I'll take a look later (when I get home from work) and check the sfx file of the mod we used for DDP, and see if something's unique or possibly missing from the Lite version.

Are you missing ALL sounds, just engine sounds, engine and tires....??

Well, I downloaded the Trainer mod and looked at the ST2000.sfx file in the mod's vehicle folder...looks like the mod references three specific folders that are part of the base rFactor install:

    Gamedata/Sounds/18L16VEngine
    Gamedata/Sounds/Secondary
    Gamedata/Sounds/Rhez

If you can copy those three folders from a full install of rFactor, and make sure they follow the same folder structure, you should be good to go.

BTW, Super jealous that you're doing the Skip Barber School....maybe one day before I'm too old...

rFactor "Lite" does not come with the sound files for the sim, don`t know why.but I think there is a sound file to be downloaded somewhere at ISI,or if you have the full rfactor on another drive you can just copy the original sounds over.

    copy on both counts...

Tim...I DL'd from Rf Central. Yeah I feel pretty lucky that my GF is so interested in racing. 3 years in a row now she's taken me to the ALMS races at Laguna. Loves cars, wants to be involved somehow with racing...It's great. I'll look at the DDP mod. Do you know if it comes with the sounds? I think I have a full Rf version somewhere on my HD.

Joe..Thanks for the info. I'll look there too. read about the shooting spree in Cumbria.....crazy that

    I'll keep you guys posted..

To answer the first question....I have all the sounds except engine...Trainer sounds like an electric car when you get on the gas..It's kinda creepy..

To get the engine sounds, you must have the following folder:

    Gamedata/Sounds/18L16VEngine

If you can't get a hold of it, post here and I'll upload to my FTP site for you to grab.

    Tim,

You better hurry, I did the 3 day open wheel course at Elkhart Lake when I was 49, and while I wouldnt trade the expereince for anything, it damn near killed me

Also, If your skinny and dont have much meat on your butt take a small pillow, those seats are so hard and the car throws you back and forth so violently it removed a pretty large layer of flesh from my tailbone after just 4 laps at speed. When I got out of the car my wife said "whats all over the seat of your pants"... It bleed clear thru the driver suite. Had to run out to the local walmart and grab a tiny pillow to get me thru the remaining 2 days. PS: The instructors didnt like that I put the pillow in there. Maybe fire proof issues? When I showed them why they said ok

Dl'd the DDP cars...No more sound problems...

Thanks for the tip on the pillow Brian. I'll keep that one stored away. Interestingly we thought about going abroad (Elkhart, Road A, or Mont Tremblant) to the 3 day school, but decided that laguna would be just as challenging.

ACtually that is a wise choice. I absolutely love Road America, but it too much track for those skippy school cars. They are kind of waisted there. Unless they have changed/upgraded their school cars (mine was a formula dodge) they dont let you excede 145mph and so the long straights at Road America were like boring highway. Laguna should be a great fit. Now that I have experienced the skippy school at RA, If I get the chance to do it again my choice will be Mid Ohio. I think that would be perfect for those cars.
