CMS Drivers Score Top 5 Finishes at Inside Sim Racing Forza 3 Race

Champion Motorsports drivers Devin O'brien and David Anderson have just returned from a successful first entry into a Forza 3 Race on XBOX 360 sponsored by Inside Sim Racing TV. Both Drivers would finish with top 5's!

Darin and Shaun the hosts of Inside Sim Racing decided to host a special Forza 3 Race for Sim Racers, with realistic settings and sim like competition. Anderson first learned of the event and made O'Brien aware of it and both drivers were accepted into the 16 car field. The race format included two heat races with the top 4 qualifying into a final event. Anderson and O'Brien would both be in the first heat together and both have strong showings to advance to the Final. There was a bit of concern that they would compete for possible transfer spots into the main event but both drivers were fast enough to run up front for solid transfers on the podium!

The race was at the tricky Sedona Long/Full Circuit over 4 miles in length with fastest lap times in the 2:30.xxx range.
Here is a track map of Sedona, which is a Californian Fantasy Track in Forza 3 with incredible detail, multiple track configurations and some very technical turns and transitions ...

Anderson and O'brien were both solid in the mid 2:34 / 2:35 lap range, which would not be fast enough for the overall win but certainly very respectable with both drivers using wheels and full sim options.

In the Main Feature Race both drivers would run in the top 5 the entire way. Anderson would lead O'Brien for a while and then Devin was able to make the pass on his fellow CMS entry -- to finish a CMS high 4th position overall with Anderson right behind in 5th. It would be a very nice and solid finish for Champion Motorsports!

Here is a short Video of Devin in the Corvette C4 GS from the Race! Also here is a 2nd Video of David Anderson's Start in the first Heat Race where he got a clean move away and went on to gain important positions through turn 1 on way to podium finish for the heat.

We both had a great time in the race, and guys if you haven't checked out Forza 3 and want to experience sim racing on the XBOX 360 platform this sim is for real. It's rich with content more so than most any other game available and it is a very good simulation on the console platform with lots of momentum in the market! Give it a shot!

It was certainly a blast Kris!!!! :) FYI the first 2 heat races were 5 laps in length each (lap times in the lower 2:30's ...) and then the main race we did was a 15 lapper, lasted about 40 minutes -- was cool! The tires were really wearing on my Camaro near the end it was getting to be a handful :)

Fun time and good racing.

The possibility in Forza 3 to have a competition where you start with "build any RWD car with max XXX performance index (400 in this case) just adds a whole new element that is simply insta-grin. I had as much fun tuning and trying different cars as I did racing.

Seriously, if we can get 8 (or more if we do multiple heats) participants here at CMS, I'd love to do some similar events. I'd suggest 525 PI, RWD... or we could add something like, no car newer than 1980... many possibilities with F3.

would definitely be fun ... I'd be up for doing a CMS event too if we had enough interest.

I'm buying a microsoft wheel off of a friend. I just can't get the control I need with the standard xbox controller but I don't really want to drop $300+ on a fanatec.

I've been playing the single player but I'm starting to get into the longer length races that are a chore with the regular controller. I'm hoping the wheel will be a little more natural.

I'd definitely be in for some CMS Forza action! My Live name is Vendsale43

I use the Microsoft Wheel -- see my blog for some pictures, and it meets my needs fine ...

I too am interested in any FM3 races you guys put together...or casual racing you guys might want to do. I need to get me a Microsoft wheel, its on my to-do list.
