Going to run Leg 1 on Friday.
Couldn't finish the Malagasy Rally, but here we have another whole gravel rally. This time I won't miss it!

    Good luck y'all.

This is my stable and IRC team rally in one. Hopefully I won't embarrass myself too much with the R3 car.

    Good luck all!

my french isn't that bad, manny..
good luck to you as well
was just being cheeky about the initial team selection
    rambles.

anybody tried the W stage? that has to be the worst hairpin in RBR.
figured it out eventually, talk about mickey mouse.

the r3 pug is a torquey fwd beast, turbo 280bhp. am going to up the ratios
to keep the mad spinning down at tip in. still fun, despite the torque
steer. will pay off on tarmac later

Finished the rally in the Honda Civic R3. Because I lack experience with FWD cars most of the time on this rally I was tweaking the setup and testing what approach in corners works the best with the car. The setup choices seem very restricted for me but I need to cope with it.
I lost lots of time on the second day of this relatively short rally but I am quite happy that I managed to reach the finish of the rally. I am not expecting much result wise though.

    Day 1
    SS1 - Tanner - Gravel Mod - 03:24.27

Very slow start. Had trouble finding grip but did the best I could with the limited experience I have with FWD car.
    SS2 - Harwood Forest II - Gravel Mod - 03:48.44
I thought I did well on this stage sliding and throwing the car around but nope still a slow time.
    SS3 - The W - Normal Mod - 01:32.06
Slippery stage and struggled with grip but I did managed to get through the stage. I had a moment in the finish straight where I was caught out by a very big bump. It threw the car around and I barely missed the time control box.

    Day 2
    SS4 - Diamond Creek v.1 - Gravel Mod - 01:34.04
    SS5 - Pribram - Gravel Mod - 06:29.68

Troubling start for me. Just before the barrels I lost grip coming out of fast right hander and went off. I tried to slow down and come back to the road but when I did come out of the foliage I went straight on into the first barrel row. The engine was still running and gearbox was working but I could hear hissing which probably meant I cracked the radiator. Not wanting to retire and reach the stage end I eased through the stage and feathered the throttle to limit the stress on the engine.

    SS6 - Diamond Creek v.1 - Gravel Mod - 01:33.73
    SS7 - Pribram - Gravel Mod - 05:40.97

    SS8 - Tanner - Gravel Mod - 03:21.59
    SS9 - Harwood Forest II - Gravel Mod - 04:27.63

Hit sidestone of the bridge with front left corner of the car which threw the car off into the river. Had to call for help to get going again. Damage was pretty extensive. Front bumper was missing, windows were cracked and suspension was beaten up. Also the cooling system was damaged so once again I had to ease the car through the rest of the stage.

    Day 3
    SS10 - Prospect Ridge - Gravel Mod - 04:40.90
    SS11 - East-West - Gravel Mod - 06:45.55
    SS12 - The W - Normal Mod - 01:30.16

Still got caught out by the bump on the finish straight but I did managed to keep the car on the road.

    SS13 - Prospect Ridge - Gravel Mod - 04:47.74
I caught something with front left corner of the car in the long sweeping left corner in the uphill section which caused the car to get sideways 90 degrees to the road. No damage though and after short reverse I got going again.
    SS14 - East-West - Gravel Mod - 06:42.94

Once again early results can be found in the Dropbox.

    Good luck to all!

A good run, Tonu. You finished-that was all I wanted you to do.

Thansk for the writeup. I plan to run my rally Friday/Saturday.

Hopefully we will make a good showing for this first round.

    Cheers,

    James

My stable rally this week. And also my IRC team's (Petronas IRC Team) first competitive outing. So some pressure to make it to the end. This has been a bit of a mixed start for me...started off first 2 stages cautious, yet nearly roll my car up on 2 wheels in both stages...and so I push hard after to make up lost time. Loving to be back on the loose stuff, such good fun. I done very little practice for leg 1, but times seem alright considering.

    SS1: 03:03.97
    SS2: 03:40.74
    SS3: 01:17.38 (Top 20 time so far)

Only 326 finishers for Leg 1, so I will likely fall down the order some. Happy with this start, but I've lost 37 seconds to the leader.

    55th Overall - 53rd in 4WD

    Results in Dropbox.
