Jumping in early while the kids are snoozing. This rally is really the true start of my season, since my goal this year is A6k championships in Madagascar and Hungary. And to be honest I see it as the first "proper" rally of the year being long, loose surface, and having 4WD and 2WD classifications.
Leg 1
Pretty excited to be back in a car I am comfortable in. Loop 1 I took gravel intermediates, which worked out fine. However I did make some pretty big mistakes on loop one, mostly overshooting the 90 degree corners in a big way. No damage so press on!
Loop 2 I felt great, really good rhythm, and few mistakes. Sikakama is so freaking epic no matter the surface, I love this stage.
Leg 2
Took gravel intermediates again on loop 1, worked for me. Pretty steady thru here, I could have gone faster but the penalties for crashing out here are big. Just kept a good rhythm going.
I didn't really know what to take for tires this loop, but ultimately 21km of dry followed by 4km of bad conditions made me choose dry gravel tires. Tanner is short, slow and technical, so where I would err on the side of safety I just decided to chance that stage with dry tires. Seemed to work fine, I really don't know if another tire would have been better. Sipir is a stage I always struggle with, but the first run thru was one of my cleanest. The run back thru I was really getting tired and I made some mistakes, lucky for me they were in sections where there were no trees to kill my rally.
Finished fairly clean, even if I was getting slower just due to running so many stages back to back and getting some brain fade.
One leg left, hoping it goes as well at the other two.
