    Default Indy 500-the Sim - 2009 edition

Found this while looking at the Delta Wing Indy project vids.

This is how I started sim racing back in the day. This was one of the first games I had on my 386. Yes a 386, that's a couple generations before even the first Pentium. I still have the original box and 5 1/4" floppy. Why I don't know, I think I'm a racing game hoarder, or collector.

This shows the game in all its glory. You raced using the arrow buttons. I preferred the two handed method were one set of digits controlled left/right and the other set, gas/brake. I spend hours upon hours, working on setups, practicing, running short races. Eventually I did the full 500 and won a couple of times. Really brings back memories of good times and great fun.

Looks like someone has made it compatible for today's super fast computers. Add to that, I don't know where I'd find a 5 1/4" floppy drive anymore. Sometime later I'm going to download and relive those glory days.

Wow, Stephen, I thought I was the only one on here old enough to have played that. I still remember that the Buick with the rain tires was the only way to go for hotlaps...

Edit to add that it would be very interesting to see some World Circuit vids. That was the game that started me on the upgrade addiction that still is going today. It had a frame rate of about 5 on my original computer so I got a new CPU...

Cool Paul, I'm sure there are many of us here that played that game and many more. GPL was the game that caused me to upgrade, and it still only ran at 15 FPS, I was pissed, but played on. HAHA those where the days, boot disks for each game and everything....
