    Default 1986 Opala Tribute Series, Season 7 - Velopark - May 22nd

    Welcome Drivers:
Here are details for the Third round of the 1986 Opala Tribute Series at Velopark .

(Att: All Drivers!)Drivers interested in registering for this series, !PLEASE GO HERE TO PICK A CAR AND FIND RELEVANT FILES!

    All drivers are welcome.
Round 3 of the Opala '86 Series is Tuesday, May 22, 2018, Qualifying at 8PM CST/9PM EST
(Please be aware that a few slight changes have been made in the formation lap/starting procedure. Be sure to read and fully understand the formation lap/starting procedure before race time. Feel free to ask questions if necessary)

For this series, we will be doing a server controlled formation lap followed by a re-grid and a standing start. The formation lap will be paced by the pole man at a speed between 50 and 80mph (80-130kph)

Here is how it will work:
Once we go to the grid at race time, the sim will tell us when to begin the formation lap. The formation lap will be single file .
As we approach the grid area, we will begin to slow slightly in the final corner and will cautiously and safely find our spot to re-grid.

This is easily identifiable. Each driver will be shown a red box around the appropriate grid spot.
The sim will not start the countdown to green until every driver is in position, so do this safely, there is no need to rush it and cause an accident.
Formation lap incidents will be penalized heavily in this series because of the more fragile nature of these cars, so be cautious!

Once all drivers are in position, a set of start lights will come up on your screen and the countdown to green will begin as usual.

(see Rules, Start Procedure and Full Schedule below)

Location: Velopark, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil - 1.415 miles / 2.278 km
One of the largest motorsport complexes in South Amercia, Velopark is located around 20 miles from Porto Alegre in Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul region.
The complex, occupying an area equivalent to 200 football fields, first opened in 2008 and featured a quarter-mile drag strip and three kart circuits, one of which is South Amercia's only karting oval. When combined, the other two form the world's longest karting circuit.
The already impressive facility expanded further in 2010 with the construction of a 1.3 mile road course, utilising the drag strip as its main straight. While not the longest of courses, the combination of long straights leading into tight corners tends to result in close racing.
The new course opened for testing in 2010, which highlighted issues with the original turn one layout. Drivers complained of the likelihood of collisions caused by the funnel effect of vehicles closing in from the wide straight into the tight corner complex which squeezed between a bridge parapet. The tight concrete-lined pit exit also drew criticism.
Rather impressively, circuit management took the feedback in the right spirit and began immediate modifications, designing a new right left chicane and revised pit exit. More impressive still was the fact that by the time the first races were held later that summer, the alterations had been fully completed. The changes increase the lap distance to 1.4 miles.
This attention to detail is reflected in the pit and paddock infrastructure, which consists of 24 garages, each of which can hold up to four cars at once. A three-tier control tower, press room, VIP area, bleachers for 30,000 spectators, two clinics, restrooms, restaurants, bars, shops and recreational areas complete the complex.
Operating seven days a week for testing, corporate and private events, Velopark has proved hugely successful – more than 500,000 people have visited since its opening.
The highlight on the racing calendar is the annual visit of the Brazilian Stock Car Championship. Ricardo Maurico, Átila Abreu, Cacá Bueno and Daniel Serra have proved the men to beat since the inaugural visit in 2010.

Tricky tricky track! Only other time I have been at this track was with the Stadium trucks. This is going to be a crazy race with 20 cars on the grid. Looking forward to it.

Guys, surgery is done, but the recovery process is a lot slower than I thought.
For the first time in my life I cant, and dont want it to, think in racing at all. Can only think when the pain will go away and when I will be able to eat e breath normally again.

So I giving up my car for the season, since I cant commit anymore.

Im sorry, and have fun everyone.

Keep in mind there are 2 races, so if you don't make it in in time for the first one maybe you'll be able to make it for the second. Between quali and the first race, it's usually at least 30 mins later.

    Thanks for letting us know.

Get Well soon Angelo, we need you on our tracks healthy. In a few weeks you will be glad for the surgery and how things are better. Keep us updated on your recovery. Join our races even if you only watch, it helped me many years ago after my surgery. Especially on TeamSpeak.
