Default Team Champion Motorsports Press Release

For many years now, Team Champion Motorsports has been a close knit group of friends which started with David Anderson and Paul Rein back before the end of the millennium in a little known league known as "The Nightshifters". A couple of years later Henry Hudson joined the team, along with Tim Collier, and Philip Brown thereafter. We've had several drivers as members of Team Champion Motorsports, but sometimes you just have someone who you have known for so long, and have so much respect for, it's hard to approach them about becoming a member.

It's almost like asking the Homecoming Queen to the prom kind of thing.

As we started 2008, the Champion roster sat at five, and while five is good, six is even better.

Therefore, it is our pleasure to introduce Mike Tyler as the newest member of Champion Motorsports!!!

Collier, speaking at a small press conference over the lunch hour at a Wendy's, talked about the way it all came together. "For over a year, David and I have been saying to each other 'Wouldn’t it be great if we could talk Mike into joining the team?' So this week I took the initiative and asked him if he would do us the honor of becoming a member of Champion Motorsports"

    Mike's response said it all:

"Thank you Tim. That's very generous of you guys and I gladly and humbly accept the invitation. You guys are awesome...you all have a fun and level-headed approach to all of this...this 'hobby' of ours and it's always a pleasure to team up with great people. I'm looking forward to racing together..."

While cracking a big smile, Paul Rein added “It is just awesome that we can add such a quality driver and equally as great, a quality Team Mate, to our Champion Motorsports stable! I just made one request of him...Give a big wave as he's lapping me!”

At one point, International Food Reviewer and team driver Philip Brown was a bit confused on Mike’s role on the team.

“What? Are you kidding me? He ain't getting any chessecake. What? The mic is on. Hey Mike, welcome to the team. It is such an honor to have such a quality guy on our team. I look forward to racing with you.”

Not in attendance for the meeting was long-time team member Henry Hudson, but he did connect via video feed he ‘borrowed’ from his employer.

Speaking from the media room of PetroMALT International in Reisterstown, MD, PetroMALT Racing's ILMS #74 PetroMALT Porsche had this to say concerning the addition of Mike Tyler to the Champion Motorsports Team. "Having driven the ILMS mod, it can only be considered a great advancement for the Champion Motorsports Team to now have the main contributors working together on the race track. It will be a pleasure to race with Mike and his hooking up with Tim in the GT1 Corvette will enhance the team's chances in the enduro races. Our Crew Chief, Neuville Noire á Blanc is most anxious to share setup and tuning information with his crew. Welcome to Champion Motorsports Mike!"

Team Captain David Anderson, while posing for photos with his fans, had the following to add. “Over the years we have had a lot of great times as a team here at Champion, and the event of adding Mike to the team has to be one of our producest moments. Words can't describe how much respect I have for Mike both as a person and as a sim-racer. I first met Mike back when I ran GPL at VOR, and have always looked up to him. It will be great having him on our side as we enter into the 2008 seasons here in the Champion Community.”

In the upcoming season, these 6 warriors will be participating in the Champion Motorsports ILMS Innaugural Season, which will have multi-class racing throughout the entire year. Mike Tyler will be teaming with Tim Collier in the Endurance Races scheduled during the year, where they will pilot the #3 Corvette C6-R. During the regular events, they will each drive BMW's in the GT Series, and Corvette C6-R's in the 4-Class Series. It should be a very interesting year indeed!

FOUL ! TRG wishes to post an official protest to this announcement.

The thought of the having the designers and engineers together on the same team is simply unfair. Never mind that they are both great drivers AND great designers but to combine all these attributes an the SAME team is untenable.

J/K Guys... congrats Mike.. A good decision by all at CMS.

After hearing of the Mike Tyler signing at Team Champion, Uranus Racing co owner Tom Cinnamon commented on the signing.

"It was probably a good fit for Tyler. Uranus Racing tried to get Mike to attend a Team Uranus initiation at Mosport last summer and at first he was all gung ho, but he just couldn't get his act together. Attendance at Mosport, the birthplace of Uranus is a Team Uranus requirement you see. He mumbled something about having to get his Mercedes fixed. My first thought was that anyone tooling around in a Mercedes could afford a flight to Toronto and have his gofers take care of his car"

"I knew something was up and it may have been a longer negotiation than Champion would like us to believe, as for about six months or so, Mike seemed to be avoiding my calls, kept his Skype turned off and whenever I did manage to get him on the phone he always had some excuse for not being able to talk. First it was, "Uh, sorry Tom, I gotta rush over to my mother-in-law"s place to set up her DVD player." Ha! How many times have I used that one myself?" Once it was. "I gotta pick up my son from tiddlywinks practice", I think it was. Then again in September he accidently picked up the phone and when he realized it was me he started whispering that he had company and that he couldn't talk. I'm reasonably sure that he had Anderson and Collier right there in his living room and was using Uranus as a bargaining chip."

After consulting with co owner Jim Best both he and Tom agreed that "We may have dodged a bullet when Tyler signed with Champion". Jim Best was overheard saying, "I doubt that he could have handled real Canadian beer and that's why he failed to show up at Mosport. I think he was looking for a team that didn't have such high expectations."

Tom continued to comment that he agreed with Mike Tribble, "We'll continue to monitor the tech staff when it comes to Champion's vehicle eligibility. I am sure that with all those Tribbles being in charge of Tech inspection that their sheer numbers will keep Champion from crossing the line. I have to keep telling Tribble to keep the doors closed on the Tech trailer to keep more of his relatives from spilling out. It gets so you just can't move around in impound when they get out of hand."

I just about spit my drink all over the keyboard when I got to that last paragraph!

    Well played Tom, well played

Tribbles prefer Quadrotriticale. ... though Petromalt MAY help keep the population in check. What does Neuvelle eat?

ROTFLMAO!! I guess now I'll have to go to Mosport this year just to make a point and sooth some ruffled Canadian goose down.

I'm not so sure about be referred to as a "prom queen"... (lol) but I'm certainly pleased to be a part of the Champion Motorsports Team and I'm really looking forward to the upcoming season of racing.

They the say the key to dealing with Tribbles and their tough-as-nails tech inspections is to relocate the tech trailer away from the snack shack.
