A Race Start and Orange Zone Review has been completed for the ILMS 4 Class Race at Denver held April 17.

Empahasis has been placed on attempting to get clean starts to our races. Unfortuneatly we are finding that a difficult task. Penalties are being assesed for the April 17 race. It should be noted, should anyone wonder what differences there may be between the penalties issued here and those given at the last GT class race, that although the resultant accidents were similar in scope, the rules violations were less. Included in the review and the penalties of the previous race were two additional rules. One regarding attempting a pass in the Orange Zone 2.2.2 and also the general rule regarding passing 3.1. These two rules were not factors in the April 17 race, as no passing attempts were involved.

Here are the findings of the current review.

Jim Best found in violation of Rule 2.1 regarding Race Starts. This is Jim's second rules violation within the "Orange Zone". He will be penalized 16 ILMS LMP2 championship points and placed on probation regarding conduct within the Orange Zone for 2 races.

Tim Collier found in violation of Rule 2.1 regarding Race Starts. This is also Tim's second rules violation within the "Orange Zone". He will be penalized 16 ILMS GT1 (4 class) championship points and placed on probation regarding conduct within the Orange Zone for 2 races. It should be noted that the distraction of a major accident which occurred just in front of Tim may have been a contributing factor in his incident.
