Champion Motorsports hosts the 2008 Six Hours of Sebring!
When rFactor was first released one of the most sought after features, among many, was the ability to conduct races with multiple classes. This ‘Holy Grail’ of sim racing was a long-awaited dream for many sim racers around the world because for the true, diehard sports car fan there is only one race that counts, okay well maybe two, but the first, the grand-daddy of them all is the 24 hours of Le Mans.
Aside from that long warm and often wet weekend in mid-June and the fabled, 24 heures du Mans there is only other race that truly test the limits of man and machine. Only one race where a team can truly test their cars, their drivers and their teams under some of the most grueling and for the cars and drivers the most punishing conditions available on any sports car track in the world, The 12 Hours of Sebring. It’s often been said that just surviving physical beating that the cars and drivers must endure during the 12 Hours of Sebring is easily the equal to driving 24 hours at Le Mans or any other track for that matter.
Yet despite the call of these premiere sports car events, despite the history and the glory of these ultimate spectacles of speed and endurance there still has never been an rFactor mod yet released that fully brings to life the thrill and passion of these paragons of multi-class sports car racing. Yes, there are a couple of mods in the works for which most of us have seen a few previews and drooled over the possibilities, but the reality is that creating a true multi-class mod, with multiple cars in each class is a daunting task. What most of us don’t realize is that creating a mod like this is really more like creating 10 or 12 different mods and then combining them into a single download. Consequently we still wait, patiently and look towards the day when these long-awaited mods will be released and the long sought-after dream of true multi-class online racing will finally be realized. Or at least some of you will….
Two years ago after waiting and waiting and… well you get the idea, another idea was born. What started out as an experiment to learn more about modding eventually turned into what a very privileged few have called, “The best rFactor mod around.” What is it that makes this mod so good? What is it that makes these ‘privileged few’ so privileged? The Série Internationale Du Mans mod by Carpe Noctem Design Group.
The Série Internationale Du Mans mod is loosely based on the popular European and American Le Mans Series and features fourteen different cars separated into four different classes of racing, LM-P1, LM-P2, LM-GT1 and LM-GT2. With marques like Corvette, Viper, Aston Martin, Audi, Pescarolo, Ferrrari, Porsche, BMW, Dome, Saleen and MG-Lola to choose from it’s easy to see what these ‘privileged few’ really are privileged, all the more so because this mod is not for public distribution. That’s right it’s for private use only. However you too may now have the opportunity to become one of the ‘privileged few.’
Champion Motorsports is pleased and proud to announce the six-hours of Sebring as part of its 2008 Série Internationale Du Mans racing series!
With a full year’s worth of racing scheduled, this real-time, 6-hour, multi-class endurance race, complete with required driver swaps, is only the inaugural event of several similar real-time endurance races that are on the books for the 2008 Champion Motorsports racing season. But the racing doesn’t stop there because each Thursday night Champion Motorsports hosts Série Internationale Du Mans racing. Alternating between a full-four class prototype series and a GT-only series, the racing is fun and exciting and these series are well managed by a team of highly experienced administrators.
So if you’ve been waiting for that ‘ultimate multi-class r-Factor sports car series mod’ you’ll just have to keep waiting, but while you’re waiting there’s nothing that says you can’t head over to Champion Motorsports and sign up for the Champion Motorsports Six Hours of Sebring! And bring a friend, because driver swaps are required and this may be your best chance to test your team’s endurance strategy before the fabled, Champion Motorsports 6 Heures du Mans!
