World Challenge and ALMS Driver Brandon Davis wins CMS iRacing event at Road Atlanta

One of the great things about iRacing.com is that it brings together simulation racers and professional and amateur racers of all types from around the world together in a virtual competition. Tonight, in the Champion Motorsports Mustang Challenge Series at Road Atlanta, Brandon Davis would win the event. Brandon is a professional driver, for ACS express Racing along with Boris Said and Townsend Bell. We always love to see professional drivers join us as it's a great crossover and an excellent learning opportunity for them as well as our members at CMS.
With Brandon's experience at Road Atlanta he brought a lot of speed to the race, and would qualify and win from the pole in impressive fashion. Turning a very quick fast lap of the race at 1:34.618, Brandon was very smooth in the Mustang FRS500 and it paid off big time with the win. Second place would go to Jim Mcinnis, who made his first start of the season with us tonight. Jim is a CMS iRacing member from past seasons and it was great to see him out again with us tonight. Congrats on the great run Jim. Champion newcomer Robert Woloschuk would finish in 3rd position with a very impressive debut of his own. Robert was referred to Champion by current member Tom Cinnamon and we love to get new members this way. So, again welcome Robert, and thanks Tom for the referral.
Devin OBrien and Charles Stout would finish in 4th and 5th position in the race to round out the top 5. These two drivers are proving to be very quick week in and week out and it will be great watching them race together all year in the series.
Here are a look at the race results from tonight
Taking a look at the Championship Standings, Devin Obrien continues to impress with a great lead in the season through 5 races, with Tom Cinnamon and a large group of drivers behind. Tom, has been very solid in his first iRacing Season and his continuing to impress with great runs. Dan Burke continues in 3rd overall with Charles Stout and David Anderson in the top 5 as well.
Next week we will be headed out west to Sonoma, California for an event at Infineon Raceway. We are racing every Wednesday night in the iRacing CMS Mustang Challenge. The racing is competitive, a lot of fun and very addictive, so come out and join us there is still plenty of time to get involved. Cya on the track!

It was very cool to race with a celebrity last night as I've watched Brandon the last few seasons in the beautiful black ACS Mustang Cobra compete at the top of the World Challenge series on Speed. He turned out to be a good guy in addition to a fast driver as he stuck around for a bit after the race chatting about cars and professional racing. He gave the iRacing Mustang and Corvette pretty high marks for their feel in the sim world as compared to his live seat time in similar cars like the WC Cobra Mustang and ALMS Ford GT (GT2 spec). It will be hard to stick close to his car on the track but it will be a welcomed bonus to have him run some more races with us.
As for the race, great competition tonight and heart pounding fun. I would have liked to maintain my 2nd position till the end but the drivers behind me had other plans. Plans that included more speed and consistency than me last night. But if you have to give up spots, it hurts less to give them up to gentlemen drivers whose skill is surpassed only by their sportsmanship.
Great driving all around and I hope to see y'all stick around in this great league.
