    Default Temporarily done with tradingpaints.com

Today, quite by accident, I came across another iRacing member who had downloaded my paint scheme and re-uploaded it too tradingpaints.com as his own. Not a big deal really, but I spent hours painting that car and it only takes a minute to ask permission. I was really put off by the fact that this guy couldn't be bothered to ask me first and the fact that he didn't even bother to take my name off the car was just plain lazy. I was honored that the guy liked my work enough to use it, but I also thought it was incredibly rude to just use it without permission.

I know that someone is going to consider this petty, but I contacted Steve at tradingpaints.com and asked him to remove the file, which he did. Of course, that doesn't prevent the guy from re-uploading it, nor are there any features in place to help creators protect their original work. In my correspondence with Steve, I proposed a couple of options that might alleviate this in the future, only time will tell if they get implemented. In the mean time, I've removed all my paint scheme's from tradingpaint.com, because I am reluctant to share my work there until they put some measures in place to at least discourage this kind of behavior.

Until that happens, I'll provide a direct link to my paint scheme's for everyone to download. I know it's not as covenient as tradingpaints.com, so don't feel any obligation to download them. However, if you do, just please don't re-upload them to tradingpaints.com.

Yeah, somebody did used my Silverado scheme and didn't ask me for permission - but he credited to "original painter" instead of my name. I don't care if anyone use my scheme, but I agreed with you that they should have asked permission.

    From Steve at tradingpaints.com

In a new build of the site coming out this weekend, we're adding a "Painted By" field, so at the very least, if someone uses another driver's paint scheme, they can at least attribute the work to the original painter (though it won't stop them from racing it on the track).

This just shows the lack of respect that iRacing drivers have began to show over the last few months. Some person just stealing your work and posting it on tradingpaints as their own is down right rude, and I hope it is a young kid that has done this and not an older driver at least you could use the excuse that they are young and dumb.

It just seems like everywhere you look in iRacing forums/tradingpaints/in race, you have some joker who is trying to ruin it for everybody.

Posting a car that is not yours is just dumb and leaving the original drivers name on it when you post it is just idiotic! If you want to download Troys scheme and run it feel free, but dont post it as your own. We cant see your scheme unless we have your account number and you can drive his navy LM around till your eyes bleed. Just dont post his work or my work or anybodys work as your own. A complete lack of respect,
    Kids these days
