great news indeed! it's always been popular in the week 13 events. What took them so long?
I suppose they probably have been working out the details for a combined DP/GT series. My guess is that you'll need at least a "B" 4.0 license to compete in the mixed class series. That's assuming that the series is Prototypes and C6R's. Then again, I can't imagine any other midels that are appropriate for mixed class racing.
What kind of mixed class racing does iRacing have during week 13? I've never participated in a single week 13 race. I always use that week to take a break.
I don't see the individual DP and GT championship series going away completely, but my fear is that another series is only going to spread the already thin fields even more. I'd support a single mixed class DP/GT series, if only to keep the fields larger.
it's been kinda crazy of late. The last one was the DP's, the Radicals, and the Spec racer Fords. The DP's and the Rad's were very close at Laguna but the spec racers were just dangerous on the track with these cars.
I'm hoping this gets field sizes up in B/A class. I definitely think they should combine the series to have only ONE series given the pitiful participation in the existing series.
GT ('Vette) / Radical could also work, but I'm thinking the cars may be far too close in performance for good mixed class racing. When the Mustang and/or Ford GT (I believe it is the GT2 version) are completed, they would complement the 'Vette well in mixed class - perhaps even 3 class.
Could be fun.
