Default iSpeed - iRacing speed and telemetry display

I'd never heard about iSpeed until today, so I figured I'd share it with my fellow CMS iRacers.

iSpeed (Get it here) is a free speed and telemetry tool that can be run on any display, remote computer, phone, or portable device. It was originally created to run on a MIMO 702 USB 7" touchscreen display (Check out the MIMO).

It is really easy to use and it doesn't seem to affect FPS, but I haven't used it during a race, so your mileage may vary.

    MY SETUP/USE:
    1. Launch iSpeed and minimize.
    2. Open browser and launch iRacing session.
    3. Open browser on any networked computer (I use my Netbook), and point to http://198.168.1.3:3278

That's it. It really is that simple to use. Although I did change the supplied .css to increase the font size and layout for my own personal tastes. I attached a picture of my setup, there's bit of glare from the flash, but you get the general idea.

iRacing staff confirmed that they will add split times and a perhaps more telemetry data to next build.

Very cool Troy I wasn't aware of this -- I will have to check it out.

They've been saying that for quite awhile now, so I won't be holding my breath. In the mean time this is a very useful tool for tracking and analyzing sector/lap times, etc...

Even just sector splits would be a big improvement.

iSpeed started its life after iRacing blocked the use of the plugin that was displaying this information right on the iRacing screen. I forget the name of the plugin.

What I loved about that plugin was that it saved your best lap and it displayed how far off you were from your best lap at every point on the track for the current lap. The thing about that kind of display is that it shows you instantly that you did the corner well or poorly and you get that instant feedback. I found when I had that display my laptimes were improving faster. I was disappointed when it went away.

I wonder what the FPS hit would be if you were driving the display from the same machine.

I finally got around to play with it today... I tried it last month and I don't seem to be able to get it working on my laptop. Today, it did same thing and then I realized that I forgot to open the port.

I got to say it's great product. I even got it work on my iPad! lol
