Lightbulb iRacing 120 Minutes of Sebring! March 20th Race Details

Ok post here if you plan to run in this race, and if there is enough interest from CMS, I will setup a private practice session for us like we did for Daytona and the Rolex event -- and of course we'll showcase how our league drivers do here on the main page of the website.

    here are the specifics!

    • Title: iRacing.com 120 Minutes of Sebring

    • Event Date: Saturday, March 20th, 2010, 12 noon EDT or (16:00 pm GMT)

    • Qualifying: Qualifying will begin March 14th at (00:00 GMT). Qualifying will begin at 30 minutes past the hour and will be a 20 minute open qualifying session

    • Race Start: The race will begin at 12 noon EDT (16:00 GMT) on Saturday, March 20th

    • Series: Members will select the Series tab and choose the iRacing.com 120 Minutes of Sebring

    • Car: Corvette C6R

    • Track: Sebring International Raceway (International Configuration)

    • Practice Sessions: Open practice sessions will begin March 14th at (00:00 GMT)

    • Eligibility: Open to all iRacing members, regardless of license level. Drivers will qualify and be gridded into race sessions based on qualifying time and iRating. Splits will NOT be separated by iRacing license

    • Safety Rating & iRating: This event is an official session and official session rules apply

    • Warm Up: Warm up will be 15 minutes to allow extra time to join into the event.

    • Race Start, Tows, Resets, Pit stops, Yellow Flags: The race will begin with a rolling start. Each driver will be allowed one reset (a tow back to pit lane). Typical pit stop rules will be in effect. Local yellow flags will be used

    • Race Length: 120 minutes

    • Field Size: 40 racecars per split

    • Cost: Free, no entry fee to all iRacing members

    • Content Required: Sebring International Raceway and the Corvette C6R

    • Race Reporting: The top 3 drivers in each split will be reported on the iRacing members page

sounds like we will have enough interest for this one so I will get a date together that we can have a CMS practice night for it.

I ran a few laps last night in the Vette at Sebring, which was great fun. Noticed three things: 1. Compared to the skipps i've been tooling around in this car is an animal, huge torque, very powerful brakes, at times needs a heafty application of lock to get the nose in. 2. The iRacing setup is very understeer orientated. 3. The real 'iRacing' Sebring is nothing like the rFactor version. Its like a completely different track. I'll have to get some significant practice in before attempting 120mins! I spent some time looking for a setup for this car/track, seem a bit like hen's teeth at the moment, i think i found 1 so far...

Yeah it's amazing the difference between some of the tracks in rFactor and how they really are in iRacing with the Laser Scanning. I have been preparing for Brands Hatch this week in the Skippy at iRacing and it's much different than the rFactor version.
