Smile Got the First One out of the Way! - Spec Ford Win at Limerock!

Well I finally got that elusive first ROAD racing win at iRacing! Took me long enough, but won a race this afternoon at Limerock Park in the Spec Racer Ford. YEAH!!! ... I had been fortunate enough to win a couple of oval races prior to this, but the Road Racing stuff has been damn hard for me to get on the podium, much less the victory so I was happy!

I am breaking in a completely new wheel and pedal setup, having just switched to the ECCI unit after using a TSW for nearly the last 10 years. It's been up and down -- but it was rewarding to see it all work for this race!

The Spec Ford is a lot of fun, and I think would be a very good and low cost, cheap option for the CMS league when we get it going at iRacing!

    Congrats David.

I can still barely get around the track without spinning out. Something is hosed up in my wheel settings or I've forgotten how to drive

Congrats David! I agree that this would be a good series to race at the smallest cost to everyone involved. And anyone joining could get their rookie license to 3 really quickly and be able to drive the Spec.

I am not sure about your wheel Jeff but I can tell you that when going back to rFactor it seems like the cars are glued to the track and much harder to spin out. I have to drive completely different in iRacing. I am not sure which is better since I am not a real driver but that is what I have to do.

Jeff, did you first calibrate your wheel (TSW right) in Windows before going to iRacing? -- maybe you could take a couple of screenshots of your iRacing calibration area or something and we can see if we see something wrong. Did you set the TSW lock thing to 270 for instance in iRacing? I remember that being important.

Yeah that way we'd be able to get everyone on the track quickly. If we wanted to run a more advanced car, my assumption is that guys just coming over to iRacing to join us for the first time would have to level up and go through the ranks first ... and that would delay their ability to race.

Congrats on your win David! Winning in the SRF has got to be satisfying especially with a new wheel and pedal set! I am still struggling with the SRF.

    Ricky,

If you're referring to the difference between iRacing and the ILMS Mod, I'd put a hell of a lot more cred in iRacing of course, and I know for a fact that the GT cars in ILMS have probably 40-50% too much downforce, and about 20% too much tire grip as well.
