    Default First Skippy Race and...

I drove the Prototype yesterday and simply put, it's amazing! So, I figured it was high time to get my "A" license and since I was only about .20 away from fast tracking, it was time for some road racing. Now the only question was, "What to drive?"

The Soltice is fun, but the competition can be a bit iffy most times and I wasn't interested in getting punted by some rookie. The Jetta is well...it's front wheel drive and I'm over it. Radical...dump truck, plus it's hard to find a race. So, that pretty much left the skippy, which just happened to be at Watkins Glen this week. Perfect. I've driven it in practice, but never officially raced it.

So, I did a little practice, qualified on the pole, and proceeded to screw the pooch in turn one, not once, but twice. I didn't spin it, but it was close both times. So, the second and third place cars got the jump and I was chasing for most of the race. They were pulling away with about five laps to go when the second place guy decided to try a pass P1 in the chicane...not smart. While he was gathering it all back up, I took over second place, about 2.8 seconds behind the leader, but I wasn't making up any ground.

Last lap, the third place guy has got his foot in the firewall and he's on a mission. I'm watching him in my rear view, slowly but surely, he's reeling me in and I'm wondering if I can hold him off for one more lap. Then, heading into turn one, I see the leader get turned around and now I've got the lead! Whoa! Luckily day, lucky day!

However, now I've got the crazy fast Japanese guy behind me and he's turning 2:12's to my 2:13's...I'm desperately looking for the N20 button, but the skippy just won't go any faster. Tateharu makes up almost a second in the last lap, but I hang on for the win by .290!

First race in the Skippy and I scored a win.

I almost feel a little like Gregor Huttu...or not!

SWEET!!!! Way to go on the win Troy -- great way to start out in that car!!! You might also check out the SPEC Ford it's a lot of fun too, I am driving the full season in it this year and I actually at this point like 4th in points in division 7 I think -- so I am really enjoying it.

Do you have any difficulty finding an official race?

Congrats!!!! I guess those laps in the Truck paid off.

I tested the skippy last night and was amazed at the handling versus the truck LOL. Maybe I'll have to try the Skippy this week.

Life isn't a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow what a ride."
