Default Devin Obrien Drives to Impressive Victory at Road America in iRacing Mustang Series

The Champion Motorsports Wednesday Night iRacing Mustang Series took to the track this week at Road America for what was an excellent race, seeing Devin Obrien take over the early season points lead from Wayne Funston with the win in dominating fashion over the rest of the field. Devin was truly in a class of his own at this race, qualifying and winning from the pole, while also leading all 18 laps. Devin is a long-time CMS member and supporter of the iRacing series and it's great to see him performing so well in this season and representing the CMS regulars.

Tom Cinnamon continued a very impressive early career in iRacing with a 2nd place finish in the race, reducing his incidents in the event and moving up several positions from his starting spot on the grid.

The final podium for the race went to CMS long time member Ricky Proffer who has come out of a brief sim racing retirement to run the series with us in the Mustangs. Ricky was very consistent and quick this week in both testing and practice and it carried over to the race. Congrats Ricky on a great run and it was awesome to have you back on the track with us.

Tim Collier in his first league based iRacing event would finish in 4th place with a great run in his debut with the CMS iRacing league, and Bob Dunlop would be the winner in a very competitive 3 car battle for 5th place. Great run Bob!

    Here is the Race Replay

and the results from the event

Let's take a quick look at the standings after two races.

Next week the event will be at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway in California which is sure to be an excellent and certainly classic racing venue for this American Muscle Power. We are expecting this to be another great race, and the interest from our CMS membership continues to grow in the iRacing series so we expect it to only get better and better. If you aren't already racing with us come out and join in on the fun, the racing is very competitive and a lot of fun.

Yes, it was fun. I could have gotten 5th place which Bob made few mistakes that allowed me to pass him.... but I lost control of the vehicle that allowed several of you passed me. And then Mustang snapped to left at turn 1 that led me to crash into tires. lol Oh, well, it was good run for me for a while.

Next week at Laguna Seca would be an interesting race especially at the cork!

That was a blast! Congrats to Devin on the win. It was made more fun because Tom and Tim were within a couple of seconds behind me most of the race. Tom passed me with about 3 or 4 laps to go and I could not get to him to try and make a pass. Looking forward to next week.

Thanks, David. I got surprised that I was able to pass you at exiting turn 2. I will continue to learn to improve my road course skill.

By the way, I post the post-race story/result at iRacing forum.

Awesome John, I think posting the recaps on the iRacing forums is a great idea! Thanks for doing that. - David
