    Default Argghh!! (Late Model racing-related)

For past several months since I race on SR-impact racing and tonight was my first race (after several 24hdeFun and host races) at Milwaukee Mile with Late Model.

I started 6th place and using Rusty Greer's Milwaukee setup. I ran average laps and maintain close with top 5. Somehow, there's an accident front of me and I avoided without hitting other car or wall. Moved up to 4th and then dropped to 5 then 6 and maintained close with 5th place car. And then about lap 25, there's an accident at front runners that took out 1st/2nd/3rd cars. The car that were led decided to crash into 5th place car for no reason. I stopped right front of them.

But the 5th car continued as I followed - I moved up to 2nd and he let me pass him and I led for the first time ever (I have never lead any race at iRacing)...

    I led for 4 laps.

Then the message popped up saying, "You have 2 laps of fuel." ARGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!

That was in lap #35 out of 50. I was forced into pit stop and get some fuel and went back in race. I was lap down, but the leader is right front of me and I managed to pass him and maintain the distance from him all the way to end.

I ended up 6th place with cool +25 SR. I'll take that.

damn John, sounds like you had a car that could have won. I feel for ya mate.

I raced with 15.1 gallons of fuel at Milwaukee. since the patch a few weeks back you almost have to double the fuel load. I try to run a full race practice run to check fuel and tire wear.

Life isn't a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow what a ride."

Yeah, I should have checked the fuel level before the race. But the most important is that I raced a good race and give me more confidence in racing.

Great run John! I too know what it is like to fall short because of fuel. Actually, I'm a little embarrassed to say that it has happened more than once...err...I mean twice.
