January 30th, 2024 – The first round of the 2024 CMS iRTES Cup Series is done and we had a fun and fiesty one at Spa-Francorchamps.

This year’s championship brought a new format with a random grid order for the first race of the day. This contributed to an action packed first race. With a car missing the start, we had chaos down into the first corner. Paul Darling took advantage of the confusion and rocketed into the lead, where he stayed the rest of the race. That meant the the 56 Porsche got pole position for the longer 45 minute race.

This time around, the grid got through La Source cleanly but that doesn’t mean that there was no action. The fight for the lead was on, Paul Darling, Chad Henson and Afonso Souto, all battling. A mistake from the 56 meant that Afonso could take the lead early on. The most of the field settled for the position they were in meaning that it was smooth sailing all the way to the end of the race.

Some of the drivers stay one more week in the Flandres for the third round of the iRTES with a bit of a competitive advantage after last weekend’s race! The Porsches are now being shipped to the forests of Hockenheim to race at the Hockenheimring on the 25th of February for another two rounds!
